Hardware Anybody has experience with PDP/HORI controllers with Wii games?

I was going to buy a Classic Controller Pro to play my Wii games on Wii U. But, since the only controllers I have are the Gamepad and Wiimote, I thought it could be a nice addition getting a Fighting Pad to play Smash. The PDP/HORI controllers act as Classic Controllers too, so it would be 2 birds with 1 stone.

My question is: anyone who has one of them had problems using them for Wii games? Is their Gamecube-like configuration uncomfortable for any games?

(And I never used a Gamecube controller before, so I think I won´t have the purists problem:
"Nothing is like the Gamecube controller, find a original one or don´t buy")

the PDP ones work well, but have digital triggers
what this means is, the L and R buttons are still springy, but have to be clicked in all the way to register as a button press
the hori ones don't have this issue
they feel lighter because neither one has the rumble feature of the original gamecube controller, and at least with the PDP ones the spot where it would be is entirely hollow

To add to this the Hori GameCube stylised controllers are very comfortable and you almost don't feel like you're holding anything which is great as it doesn't put any weight on your hands unnecessarily (*cough* GamePad *cough*). Downside is that it needs to be plugged to a Wiimote but besides that it's quite a fantastic controller!

Myself, I have the Pikachu Hori controller so that's it for me. Enough of GameCube controllers.

By the way, the four buttons in the centre feel very smooth and rubbery rather than plastic buttons.

My friend has 4 of them, and I have used them as well and their really good, responsive, and firm, just no rumble feature

Thanks, everyone. Reading the opinions here and in other forums, it seems like they do well with both Wii games and Smash. I´m buying a HORI one to give it a try, since many people recommended it.

I have the Peach and Yoshi PDP controllers. I LOVE them! It sucks that they don't have analog triggers but you learn to move past it.

Technically speaking the PDP controllers do have analogue triggers but they are just there to give a false impression.

Would've preferred if Hori had made these awesome GameCube-styled controllers wireless as Nyko and PDP have done before, although if they did, then I'd not use much of my Wii U Pro Controller again (the Hori is even lighter than the WUPC!). Yeah, I really dig light-weight controllers but even better would be no controller at all and control them with our minds (I gave Kinect a try but it's a no-no).

Trust me. The PDP triggers, while they FEEL analog are NOT analog. I've tried them out in so many analog capable GameCube games, It's not funny.

I find it funny that both the official Classic Controller (Pro) and these 3rd party unite the worst of two worlds: the cable to get in your way (Wired) and the battery and possibility of signal interference (Wireless). It would be so much better if they just plugged in the USB or were full wireless without the Wiimote

Take the Donkey Kong PDP for example, it's like someone spilled coffee over it.

What PDP had more stylish-ish was that their controllers are shiny but other than that they don't look all that good. Hori has better designed controllers.

I've used both and the HORI Battle Pad is the best. I didn't like how it looks so I painted it silver. Now it looks and works great. The D-pad is much better than real GameCube controller's, but the analog stick is slightly worse. It's great for games like Smash Bros., Mario Kart, and more. I'd go with the HORI Battle Pad and avoid the Wired Fight Pad.
