Nintendo are teaming up with Universal Parks & Resorts to Create the World's First-Ever Theme Park Attractions Based on Nintendo's Beloved Games and Characters.
Nintendo and Universal Parks & Resorts today announced plans to bring the world of Nintendo to life at Universal theme parks – creating spectacular, dedicated experiences based on Nintendo's wildly popular games, characters and worlds.

The agreement brings two icons of entertainment together and represents a significant partnership for Nintendo as it expands the reach and popularity of its characters and intellectual property.
Universal theme parks offer incredibly popular, innovative themed family entertainment experiences based on compelling stories and characters – using powerful storytelling and innovative technology. Nintendo has created remarkable and imaginative worlds filled with captivating stories and beloved characters. Now, for the first time, those stories and characters will be brought to life in entirely new ways – only at Universal theme parks.

The immersive experiences will include major attractions at Universal's theme parks and will feature Nintendo's most famous characters and games. More details will be announced in the future, as the Nintendo and Universal creative teams work to create specific concepts.

I know I am probably not the target market but this ranks very low on the list of tourist traps I am likely to partake in.

Few years ago I posted a theme park idea (should I sue them ? lol)
A Metroid game using virtual reality and augmented reality projection.
You move in a real environment build especially for it (alien planets, real round doors, etc.), wearing a full HUD helmet like Samus uses but instead of seeing only your life and weapon you also see enemies and all added element on it.

AR FPS already exists, but I don't know if it were developed more than university tests.
I know It looks like utopia, but how knows what could be done in few years with AR/Google glasses.

Nintendo: if you ever make this, please understand! invite me ;)

edit:
Other people thought it would be good idea for a theme park too :

There are some good idea on that forum.
Mario kart (obviously!)
Star fox roller coaster
Luigi's mansion
A Zelda dungeon
etc.

Post your idea here too.
What do you think Nintendo will create?

Lemme guess Nintendo themed theme park = 55% Mario, 20% Pokémon, 15% Zelda, 10% Fire Emblem, Kirby and Pikmin and maybe, just maybe 1 person in a Samus suit.

...If we're lucky.

*Sigh* I wish they would do more with F-Zero, there is so much unexplored potential with that series. F-Zero has a sort of Marvel x Star Wars setting and I'd love to see an F-Zero game with a sandbox super hero game like story mode (with racing still heavily involved of course). Do we even know if Captain Falcon's gun shoots lasers or bullets? Or is it just a toy gun he carries around since he was a kid?

And probably not as good
But Nintendo Land was not even good. But that means the theme parks are gonna be.. giant Mario Party fields where you must roll the dice to move forward and collect shiny things from others so you can pay Nintendo for letting you out again! :ohnoes:

I'm just gonna throw this out there: Scale replicas of iconic Nintendo locations.

I would visit that shit.

Me too! I really really would love if they made like a scale model of peach's castle from Mario 64. Doors with the number stars needed to go through it. Maybe turn it into a like a game and have each room have some arcade games or things to win tokens and the tokens are stars to unlock other rooms. Oh my god, im nearly 30 but i would still love that! LOL
