Hacking Possible to extract Unique ID from purchased eShop game?

Any source on this? I was always told if you converted a cartridge to a cia you *needed* a valid header w/ unique ID otherwise it wouldn't work online. In fact, when cia conversions first started you couldn't go online because no one knew how to add in the header info during the conversion...

To my understanding eShop games and .cia games use your 3DS's header instead of a unique cart header, so that's why there's no header to be extracted. As for converted rom-.cias needing a valid header to go online, I've got no idea, I've never tried it.
