It doesn't restart, but when I entered the eShop it said I needed a software update. I don't know if that is for the eShop or the firmware. I am so paranoid about doing this because I don't want to get the update nag :\
Odd. My sysnand is also on 9.2.0-20 (US O3DS) and I can access eShop just fine. Even got rid of the stupid purple update dot from the theme store. I also have the update nag on the home menu currently so that isn't the issue. (You can remove the nag if you're scared of accidentally triggering it. Boot into the system updater app using the button combo and hit OK then I decline.)

Edit: I tried opening the eShop first then applying the patch. It asks to update.
Power the 3DS off, turn it back on and apply the patch before opening eShop. If it still won't work, shut it off and try again.

Source : 9.0-9.5 <---> Target : 9.0-9.5
Is this effected by the 4.5 system settings file?

I followed gateway's instructions too closely, and downgraded my emunand's mset as well as my sysnand's :P
How is system transfer handled? should I re-upgrade my emunand's system settings to 9.0?

I'm trying to transfer old 9.5 emunand to 9.0 >NEW< emunand

It's the System Transfer version that matters (it's not MSET that handle it).
Also, yesterday I updated the OP to add a line at the top. Read carefully.

Your only option with >9.2 sysnand is updating to 9.7 and transferring to an rxtools or gateway emunand on an old 3ds. This is not an option if your source is a new 3ds.

that reminds me..how about systransfering to that o3ds on <= 9.2 sysnand, update to 9.7 emunand and systransfer again to the n3ds? The n3ds needs to spoof 9.7 I suppose? The n3ds does not need to be on any particular emunand version right?

I tried again and this time it didn't ask to update. It went straight into the eshop like it should!

Huge thanks to the OP for this, worked brilliantly on my 9.0 N3DS ^^

I do get an odd issue though, where I get Error 007-2999 when trying to download either the Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire updates. It's odd, since I've been able to download updates for other games, like Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate... Anybody know what might be causing this?

Format your console, relink your NNID and retry.

Thanks, just doing it now. Saw on another post that somebody had issues with downloading a legit game after installing it as a CIA. Think this was because I had those updates as a CIA at one point on sysNAND.

How do you even manage to download the updates? I logged in with my NNID at the eshop and can browse games/updates successfully. When it comes to download them, they appear on Homemenu but they all stuck at 0% telling me I have to update my system to download software.
N3DS with EU store.

BTW. I unlinked Sysnand from Emunand but both have the same NNID. Will I be able to use the downloaded updates in EmuNand if I copy them from the sysnand exdata folder to the corresponding emunand?

EDIT: Did someone upload the new updates for pokemon/ssb EU as CIA? Dont provide link, just say yes or no.

It was just normal for me? I got onto the eShop after putting the command into the debugger, and went to "Available Updates". They just downloaded from there. No clue about NNID though, since I never had one linked while I did this.

I'm not asking what version of console this works on, baby-cakes.
I'm asking if mset has an effect, which you clearly understood since you answered.

Thanks.

I was telling you that because there is something you seem to forget : how will you launch System Transfer on your 9.5 O3DS?

dunno, i haven't looked that far into it yet. I got to the "I can spoof stuff to make a system transfer work?" part during work.

I guess I just assumed you meant the system nand had to be 9 to 9.2 and emunand would work so long as sysnand is, like everything else 3ds-piracy-homebrew-etc. related.

Sorry, I was thinking you were talking about sysNAND, my fault.
The method doesn't work on emuNAND, you will have to do a sysNAND to sysNAND transfer.

:( my hopes.

Thanks anyway for your efforts. Back to waiting(because i'm too lazy to mess around with moving emunand to sysnand and stuff).
