So ive been using my jxd s7800b for ages and the gba emulation is great however on a big screen some games )even with filters) can and do look a little off.

Ive got and original GBA,SP and micro but have been thinking about getting a k101 .

What are peoples general thoughts on these and from a purists point of view will my GBA games look just as good or better on one of these then being emulated and im guessing they will look better beacuse of the screen size not stretching or distorting the gameplay.

many thanks.

Azel.

I prefer the GCW Zero but that's just my opinion. From what I can see the Revo K101 is a good device with deceny reviews.

I think the Revo is a good choice, do note that the screen resolution is not the same as the original GBA, it's actually 4:3 instead of 3:2 so you will have small black bars if you want to play with an 1:1 pixel ratio. The resolution is 960x480 though so that should be plenty for games to look sharp even though they are scaled up.
You should check the GBAtemp review of it: https://gbatemp.net/threads/k101-revo-official-gbatemp-review.339019/

But the GCW Zero is an emulation device, Revo K101 is pure hardware. Something that seems to be important to the OP :)

I dont mind emulation as long as it keeps the game looking as it does on the original and as much as i love my jxd it just doesnt do that ........not on handhelds with smaller screens any ways.

Whats the gcw zero like? does it give near enough original results?.

There has never been any better way to play GBA games than the AGS-101 Gameboy Advance SP (backlit).

As you describe yourself as a "game purist" (and if you only want to play GBA games) then that is the way to go.

Personally I never really got the point of the Revo, aside from not needing a separate flash card it is in every other way inferior to the real AGS-101

It's pretty much the same size as a GBA the non SP

The only thing bad I can say about it is that it doesn't support Drag n' drop, you need to flash them to an sd card using a software

I've been looking at ags 101's and in the UK on ebay there going for £100 + while the gcw zero is around the same and does more while a revo is £45........and I gotta admit the gcw is a sexy little handheld.
However the revo is also a nice looker.

The GCW has excellent GBA emulation, if you're going to get something other than an original GBA I'd suggest that.

£100 is outrageous for a run-of-the-mill 101, I bought one about a year ago for $22 Canadian. Check pawn shops and consignment stores, they often don't know the difference between the 101 and the 001.

I've checked stores and places like that but no luck...... I'm guessingthe 101 was a rarety in the UK I've found quote a few really dodgy rip offs of it but no original for a decent price.

Is there a place on here where people sell them like a listing forum?.
