Hacking GBA SP Flashcarts in the modern day

Would it be at all possible to find an EZ-Flash III in the modern day? I've looked everywhere and cannot find it. I know it's long gone out of production but there has to be something somewhere. I don't care if it's used or not. If someone could find a link I'd greatly appreciate it. I don't just want to settle for an EZ-Flash IV, or wait to see if the Everdrive GBA comes into fruition.

It is extremely difficult to find EZIIIs and you need to have a 32bit 9x-XP machine to program the cart. The good news is there was a recent update to the EZ4 that can use microSDHCs to store tons of games at once and the compatibility is next to perfect. The only downside is no RTC if you were wanting it mainly for Pokemon.

Finding nice flash carts that are no longer being produced is like asking your ceiling room to rain diamonds.

I've tried to look for an extra M3 Perfect for years now and never found one. Used flash carts never show up on Ebay so it cuts the possibility to find used flash carts down by like 95% The only ones that are on Ebay are crappy Movie Player version 1 devices and fake(?) SuperCards.

That's exactly what I want to do. I could use the patches, but I wanted to play hacks. I'll see what becomes of the idea of Everdrive GBA.

That's too bad. GBA is currently still a popular handheld in terms of nostalgia, so perhaps something new will appear.

Why wouldn't you just buy an EZ IV? They're readily available and work flawlessly with most games (minus ones that require additional peripherals like the solar sensor, an RTC etc. and most of those have patches).

True, but as stated before, I mainly want it for Pokemon and Pokemon hacks.

In that case any flashcart will do since Pokemon games have readily available clock patches.

Sorry, I wasn't specific earlier. I meant that I mainly want to do Pokemon hacks, and as far as I can tell the currently available patches aren't compatible with the hacks I want to play.

In that case you have two options - trying to hunt down an M3 Perfect/EZ3 with an RTC (good luck) or using a DSTwo to emulate the GBA on a DS/3DS (results may vary). I suppose you could also wait for an Everdrive GBA, there's reason to suspect that it's in the works, but I wouldn't hold my breath before I see more than a project board (which I have seen).

Well, I guess my current route, the DSTWO, will have to do for now. I'll see what Krikzz has to say in the next couple months. If I come across something, I will most definitely spring to the chance.

There's always stuff like XG2Turbo which you can still track down, but since it doesn't support SD cards it's clunky to use. You're better off hunting for SD-based carts with RTC integration - they're still around, just expensive. There's another alternative if you're willing to go for it - you can grab a K1 GBA SP - it's a GBA SP reproduction with built-in RTC, you might be interested in it.

There's always stuff like XG2Turbo which you can still track down, but since it doesn't support SD cards it's clunky to use. You're better off hunting for SD-based carts with RTC integration - they're still around, just expensive. There's another alternative if you're willing to go for it - you can grab a K1 GBA SP - it's a GBA SP reproduction with built-in RTC, you might be interested in it.

I've seen the K1GBA, RTC hasn't been incorporated yet according to their FAQ, plus I've already invested in a GBA SP. I'll probably track something feasible down.

I wish. EZ4 is good though. One of the best. If you're looking for RTC, it's honestly not worth it. Those flash devices always run out of battery juice because of the RTC and SRAM sharing the battery charge.
