So I spent most of my time yesterday fiddling around with my O3DSXL and figured out an obscenely easy way to run 4.xsysNAND, 4.xCFW and 9.6emuNAND (for your legit CIA installs) all off of one SD card, to eliminate having to swap SD's. My original goal was to have 4.2U SysNAND, 4.xCFW and 9.6E EmuNAND, but I'm a bit hung up on the actual region changing part at the moment. In any case general overview is as follows:

Set up PBT CFW
Install your CIAs
Format emuNAND using GW launcher
Use rxTools to update it to 9.6

Now, to switch between rxTools, CFW and GW launcher, you need the ROP multiloader and the rxTools mSET installer, along with an MSETforBoss.dat (for loading the CFW). Whenever you want to switch what your MSET boots, just install the proper ROP and you're good to go.

I'll write out a bit more in-depth later on when I have more time. But I just wanted to let you know that this IS possible without having to rewrite SD card sectors and whatnot.

Look here: http://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-how-to-have-two-emunand-mt-cfw-on-the-same-sd-for-4-x-3ds.380787/

Im trying to mod the Palantine CFW to have a simple menu on boot to chose betwen normal mode, second emunand and sysmode (PBT).

But you have to wait some days, today I changed my laptop and a need some time to setup everything again.

Fantastic stuff, I can't wait.
I wonder, can you modify the boot.bin file so it boots the same emunand as Gateway and rxTools? I know that it won't boot if the emunand is >4.x but I'm very curious.

I could modify the patch to the nand image to handle the GW emunand, but I don't know the FW functions to read the Sd low level to check where is relocated the first sector.

I could make two different versions of the code (one for every kind of NAND chip) but it's not very clean. Probably I can use my time for better things.
