Basically it patches the QR codes so you can't use PkHex unless you have a flashcart.

So, looks like there's some new updates available:
- Pokémon X and Y: version 1.4. Usual "bug fixes" meant to improve the game experience for all players. Update is required to use the online features of the games. It requires 246 blocks.
- Pokémon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire: version 1.3. Usual "bug fixes" meant to improve the game experience for all players. Update is required to use the online features of the games. It requires 271 blocks.

Well, if you're playing on official cartridge, you can always uninstall the update, do your business and reinstall it, no ?

how does it work, wouldn't they just have to update the qr codes, like on the gba games there were 1.0 and 1.1 versions of gamecards that needed updated gameshark codes.

I don't think you can downgrade patches on retail.

And since emuNAND can't be updated to 9.6, is it possible for anyone to make the update into a CIA (not asking for them, it's a "is it even possible" question)?

I thought you just delete the information on the sd card.
Its not store to the game cart.
I had SSBros and on my 3ds i install the update and then my sons 3ds ask for an update also.

So if you can find the folder on the sd card and delete it then it should revert you back.

The updates are stored in the SD card, if you remove it it should show the message that there's an update available.
I'd just make a backup of the SD before downloading the patches so one could go back and fort whenever.

I'm going to install the patch via CIA with my own ticket? How may you ask? Simple. Get rxTools. I backed up my current emunand, then booted into rxTools CFW and updated to 9.6. Then I downloaded the new update form eShop nice and proper. Then shut down and reboot back to rxTools. But this time I dump the ticket.db file from emunand using the rxTools menu. Then I use the python scripts that came with the multitool decryption stuff usually used for 4.x users to generate the encrypted title keys file for use with Decrypt9 (use multitool instead if you are on 4.x). (rxTools method of title key decryption isn't compatible with the printkey.py python script for some reason. Someone point out one that does if there is one)

Then use Decrypt9 to decrypt the title keys. Find the title ID and title key for the new patch. Download that sucker from CDN using the included programs from VOiD multitool thing. Presto! You got your self a CIA that should be legit to your console!

There's also FunkyCIA by cearp. But I have not used that before and not sure if it will work in this case or not. This is just how I did things. :P

Afterwords, restore emunand backup. Take the CIA you created and install it with devMen. It should be legit for your console too since it was downloaded using a ticket valid for your console. So the patch will work in rxMode as well if you happen to be using legit copies of the game.

n3DS users will have to wait till the patches are dumped and made public or get their n3DS nand modded so they can update to 9.6 and still be able to dump NAND and revert to a backup afterwords (as there's no way to get 9.6 emunand on n3DS due to fixed crypto keys)

Assuming any xorpad generator is even available for the n3DS that is. But if so, you can use that to extract the ticket.db file and generate the title keys. You also need a way of decrypting the title keys and n3DS specific arm9 homebrew is also needed for that.

So obviously the software update is stored on a memory card, but does anybody know if the system update is? If I update the system on one memory card, does it effect the system or is it stored on the memory card? (Sorry, I am really stupid yes).

If your nands are linked can't you just format emunand (after making a backup of 9.x), use rxtools and emunand. Download patch, restore old emunand and use GW or whatever you use?

No, my emunand isn't linked to sysnand because I have decided I don't want to constantly unwrap icons and and redo icon positions every time I boot into emunand. :P

Hmm, I get a 403 forbidden error when I attempt to use the cdn scripts. Might be be outdated. I've only used them to download system titles until now. Perhaps FunkyCIA will have to do then. I might just say ***k it and inject the ticket.db file into my 9.5 emunand and the patch already downloaded to SD will work in 9.5. But that seems like a messy way of doing it. :P

But would my method work?

Nevermind. I attempted to download the wrong title ID. I used 0004000e0011c500 title ID (that's the title ID for the patch for Alpha Sapphire) to download the patch. My Alpha Sapphire game is the one without the "e" in the middle and since it's a "preinstalled" legit CIA, it won't let me download it. Probably because eShop doesn't know I have it yet as I only recently replaced my CIA of Alpha Sapphire with the legit CIA from a preinstalled bundle. (I would assume I'd have to actually redownload it from eShop first to get a ticket that CDN will accept)

Does this mean they finally fixed the lag?

No, this is a reminder from Nintendo that we can't have nice things.

Your methods seems complex. I do get your steps as I can code and have tech knowledge, but one might ask if it's not better to wait for a public CIA to come out? I have to update 4 games since I run legit and ROMs too (all ROMs or cartridges, no CIAs).
