If I were to upgrade my emunand to 9.6 or whatever...(assuming they get 9.6 support.) then go to eshop and buy OoT.
With a linked emunand, wouldn't it show up on my sysnand as a playable title? (or there be a way to transfer it to my sysnand.

So I'd have a cia on my sysnand of OoT and be at 9.0 sysnand?

I already own a cart of OoT but thought I'd raise this as a possible option? Or no?

It's been talked about before, but no one confirmed if it worked or no, technically it's possible, but requires even more money, since you need either Sky3DS/Cubic Ninja/ OOT to go emuNAND, then you need to pay for another copy of OOT, and then try this, it's a much more convenient way though.

You would need to buy it on eshop and then merge or replace sysnand's ticket.db with emunand's, but even then we don't know if the save works with the eshop version.

And gateway is unlikely to support 9.6 emunand on the n3ds.

From what I understand, getting OoT onto your sysnand isn't the hard part, since all it would really require is a hardmod. Your solution doesn't work because obviously there is no 9.6 emunand support

The hard part is the save file, since there's no way to import it onto sysnand without CFW, and CFW doesn't work with N3DS

Or something like that

I think one day it will be possible but by that time we will probably have a lot more elegant solution

couldnt that be done the same way legit .cia files are installed?

first you would need to put the gw sav into a oot rom being ran via the red card in emunand. then do the card one save transfer process(theres a tutorial on this site somewhere) then take that new save file in the filer folder and put it on ansd card that doesnt have emunand and then run savedatafiler from the red card as a .3ds file (idk if one exists or can be made). transfer the sav to your legit oot that is on sysnand. and boom it should maybe work.

but without a working 9.6 emunand it doesnt really matter lol

There are two CFW for the N3DS, NTR and Gateway. Either can run on sysnand, and either can manage save data.

I thought it was because SDF won't work with retail carts outside of 4.5 CFW

I think we already have a thread about this which I have read, but that is what I understood from it, admittedly not very well

strange, but OoT is just another game. there is no reason it will not work if you move your ticket.db over from emunand, just like any other content.use a cfw/gw with sysnand to inject the save and i guess it will work fine

You would have to have some sort of a retail cart and eShop save transfer tool to 1:1 the save over (assuming this 1:1's saves). SDF doesn't copy over the payload at the end of the save.

Didn't OOT exist as a preinstalled game, so it would be possible to create a legit .cia of it that doesn't need to be bought from eshop?

'legit' cia does not necessarily mean one that is legit for every single console.
we can make 'universal' legit cias from preinstalled games, but i can still make a legit cia from something i buy, but naturally, it will only be legit for my system

Speaking of which, did those ever start working in DevMenu?

yeah, so CIAs with a console d (my 3ds or not) will not install, only CIAs with a blank console id...
someone said it might be a limitation of devmenu, i tried bigredmenu and it still did not work.
i think, i hope, something needs to be patched out in the fw. gw does not patch every single check.

- custom theme cias do not install on gw, you get an error. but someone had a private cfw (more things patched), and they could install a custom theme cia they made.

no, it is not a limitation of devmenu (or brm)
Yeah, but he developed a devmenu clone, therefore he knows the installation process of a cia quite well and might have some clue what needs to be patched in order to install personal cias.

A Chinese friend tried restoring backed-up 9.2 SysNAND to new3DS but after the restoration the SysNAND kept on 9.5.0-23J.
So I doubt if it would work even you had succeeded injecting ticket.db to SysNAND.

What is ticket database I've never herald of it. So I'm not sure what it does. I thought only certain oot Versions work so wouldn't the eshop Version be updated not to work by Nintendo.

Also I see iirc typed out a lot in posts what does it mean.

if oot. Did work in systemnand. would we still need the gateway cart

I'd like to eventually use oot exploit But I'm currently playing a Rom of it and don't plan on buying the. Phyisical game and lose my save
