Hello! as the title says, I just fell a victim to impulse-buying and I got myself a new 3ds (black).

Is there any thread or website where people share information about firmware versions of new 3ds EU version? (non XL) I hope mine is going to be <9.2.

I have old 3DS, Gateway and Ocarina of Time. Is there any point to keep the old DS once OoT exploit is used? Should I get rid of it all and just get Sky3DS instead? Is there a way to play games from another region on Sky3DS? This is a deal or no-deal to me. How complicated is it?

What I care the most is those few weird japanese games barely anyone knows, I love playing them.

Why does that matter? He's getting the EUR version.

Don't get rid of gateway... Also a lot of homebrew only works on the old 3ds, so depending on what you want to do you might want to keep it.

1) There is multiple threads listing console serial number and corresponding firmware version. Look back 1 or 2 pages in this section.

2) Is your old DS on <9.2? I would just keep that as your Gateway/CFW/Homebrew device, inserting the OoT game, launching it, navigating save menu, then pressing A button is just far too much when you can have an old 3DS on 4.5 with single-time install (until you use DS software, then reinstall is needed) and 3 button presses and you are in Gateway mode.

3) Don't know much about SKY3DS. Sorry

Here's a thread on a Spanish forum with a few more EUR N3DS serials in addition to the ones already here on GBAtemp. Look for the section labeled "Consolas Región EUR" and click on the spoiler tags to see the serials.

I'd keep the old console as well, sometimes the OoT save might get wiped from the cart after launching the exploit.

Hello again, thank you very much for your answers.

Thank you for this link. I could only find threads here on gbatemp referring to 3DS XL from US region.

Following your advice guys, I think I will keep old 3DS for now and see what happens next.

For those curious - I can't speak japanese unfortunately, but my wife does. I still have lots of fun playing japanese games, especially if there is text instead of spoken dialogues, I can get some of it. Our favourite series is Taiko no Tatsujin - we have original drums for PS2 and several imported dvds :)
