Like will we be able to use gateway soon? I don't wanna buy a sky3ds and have it either stop being supported/ Gateway become usable. The button press for game swap seems like it'll be rather annoying, Especially at over 5+ games.

you can use gateway on the n3ds as long as the firmware is under 9.2 and you have a copy of either Cubic Ninja or Ocarina of Time and a way to modify OoT's save.

I think the button press is a small price to pay.
There's no word of gateway being able to work on a firmware higher than 9.2 at the minute so it depends on what firmware your on.
If you get the sky3ds then you know it works with 100% of the games at the minute. As for it being blocked? Just don't update unless its safe. That way you'll be able to use forever :)

I play LOTS of pokemon and monster hunter online, Naturally I am on 9.5 so I could be online

I would litterally update on the spot though, Anything I play alot involves online play.

Naturally I'd not know that because you haven't mentioned anything of the kind in your original post
but yeah, Sky3DS is basically your only option right now.

It is a common way to express that because of something, It is normal to do something. The sense I used it meaning "used to say that something is expected or normal"

it's normal for most the n3dsxl owners here to be waiting on lower firmware to use gateway, and there was no way to "expect" you were on 9.5 from your original post, as you made no mention of playing online games

Well, considering that Gateway has more advantages over Sky3DS like EmuNAND which includes regionfree, .cia installation (DLC, updates, games, etc.), backup retail carts, play modified roms (undubs, fan-translations, etc.), etc.
Although, that's more of the technical side of things and if you want simplicity, get a Sky3DS. You'll, at least, be able to play roms on your 3DS.

Oh gawd, here we go again...

Just go get a Sky3DS. Remember, it isn't just limited to playing on one system. So you can also use it to play with friends. Worth the buy... nor does it matter what brand SD card you buy. Just don't get over 32GB and try to keep it class10.

Not trying to hijack the thread but: I have a gateway and a N3DSXL too and have been thinking about getting a sky.....Red button, white button, blue button: what's the difference and which is the best? Hopefully this will benefit the OP too.

I just got the sky3ds for my N3DSXL. Its the blue button version and works great. Takes about 5-10 seconds per press to switch to the next game.

There is a white button Sky3ds ?! Oo

Yes, there is. It was the prototype:
http://www.sky3ds.uk/Sky3DS-Review.htm

Get the blue one. Hands down.

And if you're still under 9.5 on N3DS you can use Sky3DS to install GW. That, or buy an OOT cart for about the same price.

Get the Sky3DS Blue button. It'll come in handy. And who knows what the future will bring...

Go DL the ROM-TOOL to trim your .3DS files. It slightly improves the scrolling without having to wait through OPTIMIZE in DiskWriter.

Turns 4GB.3ds files into 2GB.3ds files, etc... also lets you squeeze in all 31 games per SD card.

Well, because your on 9.5 you have no choice at the moment other then to use a Sky3DS as the Gateway will not support your current firmware version. You are right in saying that Gateway has more features and also about the button press, I would hate to have to do that. I like my Gateway in every way and would not choose a Sky over it now.

You cannot just 'install' Gateway. It requires the cart for it to work 100% too. You can use the Launcher.dat on your SD card but that's about it.
