Hacking Injecting OoT save to card using a good ol DS with DSaveManager

I'd rather use the old DS than purchase a save dongle for a 1time use..

I wouldn't recommend putting the bare board into your DS without the casing on. It could short to the metal shielding in the cartridge slot.

Ok it's just clipped, it's from another thread. The dude says "I was able to open the cartridge by using two thumbnails."

Ok noted, The Real JDbye, easy enough to insulate with electrical tape.

A bump, to ask if anyone has tried this. I have read, but not tried, it is possible to put a 3DS game chip into a DS game case. In this way, you can put OOT3DS into your NDS to hopefully use with DSaveManager. I don't have OOT3DS (or a Gateway for that matter..) so I can't try this procedure out. Anyone who can, a report on your progress would be appreciated.

you only need to know someone with any original 3DS or 2DS on FW 9.2 or lower, region doesn't matter for save injecting, and they dont even need to own a gateway card....or anyone with a sky3ds that you could use one to boot up the gateway menu then inject the save into your retail cart

Thanks for your reply. I don't know anyone fitting the description so either I need to use DSaveManager, if someone can confirm it's working, or some kind of Save dongle device that I'd purchase online.
Wondering what the options are in the latter case.

i think he wants someone else to butcher their game to be a Guinea pig first......personally i cant see it working, i would say just go to a second hand shop, take a SD card with the save and launcher file on, ask to try out a 3DS and just install it there and then.....or just be honest and ask them if they will let you install the save and chuck them a bit of spare money for them helping you out

My OoT copy hasn't even departed japan yet.

well nowhere have you mentioned that you dont even have the game yet.....guess we should all be psychic, basically i doubt it will work, your best bet is to find some other means of getting the save installed I.E asking if a shop will let you install it on one of their systems (would have to be more of a independent store)

TL : DR i dont think anyone else really wants to hack their cart to pieces just to write the save to it so they can tell you that its safe

"troll" lol.......nope, just being honest that i doubt there will be many people willing to cut their game up just to install the save.....and yeah small independent shops who sell second hand stuff can sometimes help people out, done stuff similar before its not such a crazy notion that they would let you use a 3DS for what?....1 minute just to install the save, literately insert SD card, go to go.gateway-3ds.com pick restore save, done

guess it depends on where your from but if i was so desperate that i was willing to cut my game open i would just go ask nicely in a shop and offer them a bit of money as thanks for saving me the effort of ordering a save dongle thing online to use it one

just say something like you need to backup your save as you sold the game online and want to keep your save in case you buy it again....i doubt many would have an issue unless you think it would work in walmart or some other big corporate brand...no i doubt it....just a small independent pawn shop or whatever you call them in America

It works.

Have a US 9.0 red 3dsxl and was able to restore a gw save to my reformatted zelda eeprom with dssavemanager. I bypassed the need to saw/rehouse my cart by using on of those 3to1 selector adapters that allow both 3ds or DS games to be inserted in a DS.
