So I just recently got a new 3DS XL, running firmware 9.0.0-20E.
I'm thinking of updating it, because I really don't see the point in the whole wait-gate thing.

Is there any recommendations as to what I should do?
I only have one game so far, but haven't put my N3DSXL online yet.

What say you?

Gateway is working fine with OoT.

Honestly? In the past Gateway always delivered. Yes, it took time, but you're not entitled to anything. And having the ability to use EmuNAND, free DLC, CIA-installation etc. is just great.

If you don't need this and simply want to play ROMs of your region, feel free to purchase a Sky3DS. I personally think it's the inferior product, but other people are happy with it.

Hmm, was there a revision of OOT that fixed the exploit?

Or see if you can get a cheap Cubic Ninja PAL copy. That way you will not need Ocarina of Time since Gateway will soon be releasing support for booting Gateway via Cubic Ninja.

Since you're in England (saw the flag), why don't you get a cheap copy off Ebay.it. I bought my Cubic Ninja PAL copy off Ebay.it for €10 + €13 shipping to my country. I bet shipping to England from Italy would be cheaper :)

just update and go legit, buy all your games, and don't have any of GW's features.
sounds like a good idea... right?... lol
Hey, it has its own advantages, like not having to worry about bricking, complicated hacking procedures, not having to wait months for an update to be released (that you aren't even sure will ever happen), supporting developers, having physical games and stuff (if you buy physical, of course).
And for me, buying games also makes me more inclined to actually use the system and play said games. I've had a Gateway for my 3DS for a month or so now and I've used it maybe three hours total.

hey i know, i fully understand, i just get annoyed about many threads a bit similar, asking things like 'i have no idea myself, it's obviously not that big a deal to me, but i want you guys to decide for me because yeah' threads with a poll
'should i sell my n3ds or not'
'do i give up waiting for gw or not' etc etc...

I'm not letting people decide for me, but It would be nice to have a few opinions on the subject, considering I've been out of the loop for a while.

Cubic Ninja has gotten even more expensive lol.

Cubic Ninja is a rare game. Like 50K sold or something, and Nintendo pulled the game from stores, meaning it could be worth a lot of money in a few years, especially if it's not open. So if you get your hands on it, save it :)

Plus I think a lot of us already have OoT since it's such a great game. Nintendo won't pull OoT like they did with Cubic Ninja. It's only sold out at the moment because of Majora's Mask.

One thing I'm wondering over though. Do you really need that save dongle? And if so, what kind dongle would that be? R4i save dongle?

I would wait on 9.0. Even if you don't want to get OoT or wait for Gateway any longer, there's a few cool things being developed for the N3DS right now that require an exploitable firmware. KARL3DS is looking good, and that will let you run EmuNAND, CIAs and homebrew if you choose not to update.

Wel OOT is out of print and not distributed to shops anymore. I think that's what people mean by rare, I looked for it when I first got my N3DS (First ds console) as the N64 version is my most favorite game of all time. It was nowhere to be found, and every shop told me it was out of production. And this was way before the whole gateway exploit was found so it is even more rare now lol. The upside is there are more copies worldwide than cubic though, should be easier to get a hold of one who does not scalp it.

You can still buy games, dump them and don't have to carry around tons of cards.

They really stopped already? A very bad call by them since many N3DS buyers are first time owners of a 3DS console, and they may want to get their hands on one of the best games of all time.

Thanks for the tip! :)
