Many years ago it would have been MS.

These days MS just seems lovably incompetent despite past danger, like a racist elderly relative.

Sony, despite efforts in recent months to also appear incompetent, do still pose something of a threat.

Suffice it to say though I would not trust either to hold my beer as I tied my shoe.

This thread feels oddly familiar... That said, I vote MS as I prefer Sony's exclusives. I honestly don't have a problem with either company

i voted sony. years ago i would have said ms, but i think they are turning around lately in their practices and even opening up in good ways. sony to me has always had an alter motive to all their products

MS because they make the Xbox controller assymetrical. (to make matters worse, Amazon Fire TV is now assymetrical too, all because it rip offs the Xbox controller)

Except asymmetrical controllers are objectively better and should be the standard. (◕‿◕)
Except that this is logically impossible. For an assymetrical controller to be "objectively" better in any way, the other half of the controller is objectively worse by the same standard.

So basically, assymetrical controllers are for people who are irrational, but who love to rationalize.

In all of 7th gen there's maybe only one game where assymetrical arguably makes sense, which is the God of War franchise. But ironically it's Sony exclusive. And it's obsolete franchise to begin with since it has fixed camera.

Assymetrical controller = great for all those fixed camera games in existence.

Oh right, there are none because this is not 1998

There are logical reasons why the function buttons and the primary control stick should be directly under your thumbs when grabbing a controller in a relaxed position, this suggests an asymmetrical layout, it's as simple as that. Input of secondary importance can be placed higher or lower, but the primary input which is used practically all the time should be in the most desirable spot.

EDIT: Ah, love this sensation of Deja Vu.

Meaning, both sticks on top.

If Xbox fans actually believed the stuff they were spouting, they would sell their Xboxes and get a WiiU.
But we all know the real reason people who prefer assymetrical think it is objectively better is because they are used to it.
In other words they are using aesthetically garbage clown controllers (Xbox controllers) for no reason.

Wat. I just explained, in detail, how that's not the case. You want the control stick and the buttons, not two sticks - that's advantageous exclusively in twin stick shooters and hardly optimal. Unless you're playing a twin stick shooter you only occasionally adjust the camera, meanwhile you need function buttons (A/B/X/Y, shapes, whatever you choose to label them) and the control stick 90% of the time. :rofl2:

Nobody would ever do that.

Companies are FORCED to come up with new controller design since the best ideas have been patented. If I were to start a console right now, the first thing that people are going to complain about is the controller. Well, how the fuck am I supposed to do if almost everything is patented now?

This being said, I don't follow these two much so I have no idea which is worse. But according to the past:

- Microsoft abandoned HD-DVDs
- Sony had an outrageous price cut for the PSP Go with free games just months after release and months before they made the PSP Street and never mentioned it again
- Microsoft abandoned the Kinect
- Sony abandoned the Xperia Play after a 600Eur launch price
- Microsoft's Xbox 360 had RROD
- Sony's PS3 was a bitch to program on
- Microsoft asked a large fee to developers if they wanted to update their games (this had good reasons though)
- Sony is slowly killing the Vita (boy I hope to be wrong)
- both companies got different sectors, but Sony became synonym for mediocrity and programmed obsolescence while MS is doing better
- Both companies paid to have the exclusivity of some games
- Sony released more crap that nobody ever bought (remember the TVs with a built-in PS2?)

Personally I prefer the air

I dunno man, I like the feeling of the wii u controller over the x360 and xbone controllers. It's like the only decent controller nintendo have ever made.

Except for the GC controller, one of the best controllers of all time. :P Seriously though, both sticks on priority is clearly shooter-centric, a very odd choice for the Wii U.

I don't even own a shooter for the Wii U / didn't even know they existed for it. The only reason I like the controller is because over the current gen, it's the only one I can use for hours on end and not get sore hands. I couldn't care less how a controller is designed, you don't even notice when you're playing a game (unless the controller is awkward as fuck the like N64 controller).
