So I rescently went to go play a Wiiu game and I find that the Wiiu gamepad touchscreen is not working at all, it does not respond to touch. I did what they all said on the support site, unplug battery wait 4 hours, etc etc.

I went to go see how much it would be to buy a new one as this pad is very damaged (my dog found it) ebay does not sell any new gamepad's only use/pre-opened pads for a crazy price. So I goto see how much it would cost if Nintendo would to replace it and there saying around 180$ almost as much as the Wiiu!! I think Nintendo is totaly ripping me off so I'm heading over to my fav forum site to see if you guys have any ideas on what I can do.

I know I can try repairing the screen but the pad itself is very damaged and I would prefur to have the whole thing replaced.

I would buy a refurb from Nintendo for $200. The "console only" goes for over $100 on eBay.

If you decide to go that route, I will buy the console only for a $100 from you and skip the eBay fees.

You could try a local game store and see if they'd have more reasonable prices than eBay, otherwise to spend $200 you could just get a Premium Wii U bundle altogether.

Hilarious, you should go into comedy sometime

Yeah, he can try, but I'm willing to bet my fez (and I love that thing) that he will find prices worlds more reasonable online than at a game store, unless it's family-owned or something

A GamePad here costs around £60-70 which in dollars is around $92-107.

No need to have that rude attitude, Total.

I know, and I apologize, it's just the return price for game consoles (and games, for that matter) is REALLY abysmal, at best, when it comes to chain stores. For instance, around US$75, MAYBE $100, for a mint condition Wii U at GameStop, only for them to sell it for almost $200 :( So yeah, sorry for giving attitude, it's just I really, REALLY advise against trading with chain stores, when one can

Im honestly thinking of buying a new Wiiu bundle and selling the console part, XD lol

This is the problem with Wii U, if the GamePad breaks down it forces the user to fork out quite a good chunk of money for another one, or even buy a new Wii U bundle completely.

Not too long ago there was Wii U bundles on supermarkets being sold off around £89 and that included everything a Premium 32 GB includes, sadly none of the Tesco stores these were sold at had any anymore.

GameStop does tend to be dickish about their prices and turns new games to "used" so they can sell it higher. And no prob, it's all good.

well don't break it than

Implying the hardware can't break due to a manufacturing defect, etc. After the 1 year limited warranty, good luck claiming consumer sales protection under the Sales of Goods Act. Nintendo can always deny responsibility in such a case. Then there's the fact that general wear and tear can render the Wii U GamePad unusable. The left analog stick on mine is thoroughly worn down and that's just due to normal use. I also wash my hands always before touching my Wii U GamePad, no exceptions.

If it makes you feel any better, I bought a white Wii U at Kmart for $180. Don't know what that translates to in ca funds but it was cheap. Guess I was at the right store at the right time.

My GamePad still works perfectly as it did from day one but given that now I rarely use it due to the Wii U Pro Controller that's no surprise, still, the screen's got a lot of light scratches (not really noticeable) because of always using the stylus so it was bound to happen.

I could've used a screen protector for the GamePad's screen but honestly the tech's old and it probably works better without it.
