My current situation:

I got a MM n3DS XL today, but as Gateway doesn't support n3DS yet AND it won't support emuNAND 9.5 immediately. So I can't create an emuNAND on the n3DS and use "System Transfer" to transfer my data from my old 3DS, while keeping the sysNAND on 9.2.

What I what to do is:

Play my pre-installed Majora's Mask on my n3DS XL until emuNAND 9.5 comes out for n3DS, so I can use System Transfer.

My questions are:

1) Can I just back-up the MM save data --> use System Transfer to transfer old 3DS to n3DS (when the day comes) --> remove microSD (it's using a SD adapter) from old 3DS --> use the microSD from the old 3DS in the n3DS, re-download MM from eShop and have a working MM save after I put back the MM save data back-up on it?

2) If that's possible, can I simply do this using savedatafiler or will the official save-data backup/restore option work just fine?

Sorry for the noob question :P.

I believe SavaDataFiler would be your savior for your save file. But you won't have your Majora's Mask game anymore so you'll have to install a cia of the game. Then you can use SaveDataFiler to restore your save, once you're situated after the system transfer and all that.

Doing the system transfer will delete the pre-installed copy of Majora's Mask, but it can be rewdownloaded from the eShop after the transfer is complete. It will remain on your eShop account, just like you bought it on the eShop. You can even move it to another 3DS by doing a System Transfer again.

He wants to do a system transfer from his old 3DS to his New 3DS. His copy of Majora's Mask 3D won't exist anymore and only data from the old 3DS will exist. Majora's Mask wont show up on his eshop account.

Just be sure you dont have any NNID linked on your New 3DS. Im sure you don't, because you already have one linked on the old 3DS. You can't log into your NNID on another 3DS.

Thanks for confirming that savedatafiler will do the trick :D.

And yes, I don't have NNID linked on my new 3DS of course ~~.

What CompC said is actually correct. After doing System Transfer to the new 3DS, Majora's Mask will get linked to the NNID of the transferred account and can be re-downloaded in the eShop account.

I once did System Transfer to transfer from an old 3DS cosmic black to a Zelda 3DS XL and I could re-download the pre-installed A Link Between Worlds just fine in eShop, so this function is confirmed and all ~~.

So I just want to confirm something since we're on the topic in this thread - can I transfer my NNID from old 3ds to new 3ds emunand to emunand, then I can link my NNID on my new 3ds sysnand without issue? Do I need to unlink my NNID on sysnand of the old 3ds before doing so or do another wipe of sysnand on old 3ds?
