Extracting the save doesn't seem to extract into a usable format for pkhex. Do I need to convert it to a usable format and then convert it back? How is this done?

Really? PKHeX should be able to open the "main" file SDF extracts just fine.

The only files it extracted were .dat files and a bunch of empty folders.

*EDIT* I've dumped the save under the user section instead and it worked. For Fantasy Life I had to dump under the ext section.

So you were able to work it out? PKhex works with the .cia version of the game? I thought it only worked with the .3ds(z) version. Though I dunno why I thought that.

Yes it works fine I cloned my friends pokemon for him and gave myself 99999999 dollars.

All I had to do was export the save with savedatafiler (under user it's save 115c or something) then put SD card into my PC. When I launched PKhex it opened the save automatically.

you need savedatafiler then look up the title id for your game. the extact it to the sd using that software. then pokehex will pick up on it.
