Hacking Worth trading my 3DS XL for the N3DS? But then have no 4.5 support

Is it worth trading a 3DS XL for the N3DS?

So I heard that the N3DS isn't downgradable and I just realized that it never had firmware 4.5 so it can never be downgraded under 9.0.
This is a huge turn off for me since I was planning on trading my 3DS XL for a new 3DS XL, hoping to use 4.5 like my original XL could.

Having to use the browser exploit is a privilege to be able to use gateway on 9.0, but it's not easy to launch up and requires an internet connection each time.

I'm starting to think trading for a new 3DS isn't worth it. I'm not really gaining much, and I don't even care about Xenoblade Chronicles at all.

What do you guys think, should I cancel my gamestop preorder for the New 3DS XL, or should I proceed with the trade?

Yes, it's absolutely worth it. The system has its problems, but it operates faster, loads stuff faster, has a much better browser and the C-stick and extra shoulder buttons make a difference when playing CPP games. I think it's a really great system and although you'll lose your 4.5 benefits, there's always NINJHAX or other Homebrew launching methods. To be honest though, you could just buy the system separately and keep your old XL for all your Homebrew needs - there's no harm in doing that, you'll just have to save a little longer.

Again with the lying...

The N3DS will have an offline QR based exploit so you're good to go.
You can't guarantee that. Let's not post snake oil until the exploit is actually released, I've been hearing promises for months now, but it's all steam so far.

Those are some good points, about this being the only opportunity to buy an exploitable 3DS and the faster processor.

I can keep my original 3DS XL, but I wasn't planning on spending $200 like that. That's why I originally planned to sell my original on ebay for a large amount after I got the N3DS and got it set up.
If I spent $200, I would buy another Chromebook (Yes I use a Chromebook and been using it for over a year now, very handy little computers)
I'll keep thinking about it until release day three weeks from now. But for now, it's preordered and fully paid off.

Not worth it because then I'd have no way to charge the new system. Fucking Nintendo...

I know, you can get a charger for 15 dollars or whatever (less online if you want off brand junk), but then you're not even paying for half the New , better to just keep the old one as a backup, or secondary system.

It's not like I sold my GB for GBC, GBC for GBA, or GBA for SP, either, why start now.

If you want to force yourself to sell it.. Update it to 9.4:lol:

The thought of that makes your heart bleed right? That some joker might get it and update your precious..

Keep it as a safety net... And Tax season is almost here... easy time to excuse frivolous spending.

If you don't care about the exclusive games, there's no point of buying it. Perhaps you care about better 3D and software performance and possibility of downgrade it. Ok, but.. this is what I keep in mind, 1. Technology are advance year after year, Nintendo always will come out with better handle sometimes in the future. Same goes to GW team, they always will find out ways to exploit 3ds. We never know when they going to release it, maybe 2 years top. Idk. But they will release it cause GW is a business. I wanted to buy white N3DS so badly but after 2 months of contemplating, my girlfriend said this to me,"Appreciate things you have." Just because it's better doesn't mean you have to buy it. If you don't have extra cash like me, just move on and be happy what you got. This is just my honest opinions :)

Is it possible to print that QR code on paper and scan it that way? I don't always have a phone or tablet on or with me. I would at least be able to fold a piece of paper and unfold it when I needed it.

Its pointless to ask for opinions on what YOU should do because you need to understand what GW can do for you before even diving into it. We use emunand so that we can play games that require the latest update. Others downgrade for ease of using the DS exploit vs. the web exploit. I wanted to downgrade so I can play DS games but found out I don't have to worry about that any more thanks to the cia file that makes changes to the sysnand, so no reason to downgrade anymore. I've used cia's and roms, both have advantages and disadvantages so it will be a toss up on what I want installed vs playing the backup rom itself.

I made decisions based on my findings and no one else opinion, technical enough to understand the risk of downgrading without the hardmod and decided that its not worth the risk because I don't have anyone lined up to handle the task plus I don't see a need for it now.

The QR method leak or whatever came from a reliable member who is close to GW and has access to the closed beta for quite some time AFAIK. The exploit is described pretty much as smealum's Ninjhax - so you scan the QR code once and you have it stored in the Mii maker for further offline use.

I understand what you mean, but I never post here, or ask questions anywhere else. I just wanted to see what you guys had to say about non downgradable N3DS. So you guys can possibly give me an idea I wouldn't think of. Gbatemp is full of users who know a lot, so I thought they'd help me strategize.
I see a lot of noobie posts on this section and I figured why not throw in a question myself, it can't be as bad as the other questions that go around.

It's like life, I can't be afraid to ask for job openings or any question in general just because one person will get mad and not want to answer. I'm gonna take my chances and ask, to hear from the nicer users who would actually add any kind of input and not judge me for asking.

This thread really helps my decision and it just may help anyone else with the same concern.
So I feel right for trying, rather than watching everyone else have freedom to post questions or discussions.

Because nothing has been released for N3DSXL yet its hard to answer that type of question so I don't even know why people are asking members who know little about what will be released on N3DS. Downgrading will probably be non-functional as GW needs to figure out how to implement 4.5 on a system that never had 4.5, did you understand that part? If so continue reading, as you already know the browser trick doesn't work with the N3DSXL because its on a different version than the 3DSXL so the same exploit does not apply. The QR exploit for mii maker was suppose to be the appropriate method but it seems make mii maker lose functionality as well as games that uses it as well. So at this point its WIP or find another route to load the Launcher.dat. You following?
