Hacking [RELEASE] Regionthree: Region Free loader for 3DS/2DS/xl from 9.0~9.4, Sky3DS Users, regionfree!!

lets be honest gateway deserves praise for this more than sky3ds does.......smealum and gateway are the people who made it possible, but yeah sky3ds is starting to not look all that bad thanks to other people work could still do with a price drop

more than 10 games= made by someone else, copied by sky3ds
region free = made by someone else....i say give it a few days and they will be announcing it as their own feature

This exploit is gonna get blocked in the next update anyway. Leave the man some joy while it lasts.

Is the only advantage for Sky3DS users that new games that require 9.5 are playable, but still no online or eshop access?

smealum has already said it bypasses the updates too, but once it gets to that point it will be web exploit every time you want to play a new game...until ofc nintendo manages to roll out a SDK update that blocks it running even if updating is bypassed....this is the best thing that could of happened for sky3ds tbh....so this pretty much gives sky3ds like an extra 4/5 months of crude usability even if a update comes out that blocks the card itself on higher FW versions

héhé, this also means that QQ3DS will do regiofree, cause it will be an exact copy of sky3ds and if you look good it's cheaper.

True, Thanks to other peoples work it's getting better, but isn't it always like that (look at Apple, with there iphones/ipads, what the stole from the jailbreak community is amazing)
Lucky for us, there are people who do this, to prove what the can or anything else, it's proffit for us, the end user

To be honest i own a sky3ds and a gateway and i still will choose the sky3ds over the gateway to play games, only for the easy of use and the kid friendlyness
gateway is more for the pro user who knows what he is doing, i like it how i can dump my own games with it and use emunand and the support of homebrew and eshop

Advantage is such a strong word

yeah its all good, but if/when nintendo does clock the card in an update it becomes a lot less kid friendly needing to trigger the web exploit every time you switch games and loosing eshop/update access, feature set is getting there, but without a kernel exploit it still all hinges on nintendo not patching stuff up(or taking too long to do it)

this is pretty much gateways exploit....or the remnants of it that still exist in 9.3-9.4, basically there is 4 stages to the exploit, this is just stages 1 and 2 being utilized to do something basic* that didnt require kernel access......the all important stage that gives total control is already blocked in 9.3, so all that is left is the scraps to do small userland tweaks....such as bypassing home screen region checks

*im not saying its easy....just that it doesn't require as big a hack to achieve so stages 1 &2 here enough to pull this off

Online is not a problem with sky3ds

We don't know what the next Nintendo update will bring, yes sky3ds can get blocked, but you can say the same for gateway, emunand can be blocked to i bet, so if emunand is stuck to 9.4.0.24x then you won't be able to access eshop again with gateway
It's a good progress and possitive that sky3ds users for now can enjoy regionfree throu a gateway exploit, how it's done, doesn't matter, as long as it works and for as long we can enjoy it, sky3ds users will be happy

(Note: The whole sky3ds/gateway bashing is really stupid! i love both of them, the all have there advantage in there own way! and i will not mention supercard for now )

Actually emunand did get blocked several times so far and every time GW managed to fix it. Even if they manage to permanently block it there is always firmware spoofing and .cia updates. No matter how you look at it GW is truly future proof.

I think nintendo is starting thinking making a new portable console because the 3ds is like the wii (yes the original one!) everybody know more or less how the system works! But now with the launch of the "new" 3ds well maybe the "true new" ds maybe will be realised in 2017

Yeah! Seriously i don't know why the games are region locked!? Im gamedeveloper and i publish games to the Ouya (a android console) and gamejolt! And i make it for all the people (on this planet) be able to play my games!

I'll never understand why people say that Sky3ds is more user friendly than GW. With GW, you don't have to mess with templates or DiskWriter You just put your games in the microSD and you're good to go.

yeah im sure there was other people involved, and people who have helped smealum with stuff that lead to this, contributors to 3dbrew etc....but yeah unless all these people are sky3ds, sky3ds has nothing at all to do with this release, it just happens to work with it

Not quite. The browser ROP is probably only used as a shortcut (he mentioned he didn't have much time). Stage 2 is gpuhax which smea found. From then it's obviously original work.

yeah i just mean most of this is already used by gateway so its not really a new exploit which some people are thinking it is....its just using the leftovers of what still works in 9.3-9.4....i know the actual region bypass is original work, but most of the rest is re-used.....from what i read gateway probably already knew about the exploit ninjhax used and where holding back, but ninjhax being released forced their hand to a degree as they knew they where sharing exploit stages with ninjhax
