Hacking wifi needed? Gateway ULTRA 3.0.1 on 3DS 9.2

I have a question about the Gateway ULTRA 3.0 card.

--> Do I need wifi every time the 3DS restarts?
My kids often use there 3DS without having wifi.

Can this be solved by using the blue card?
Do I need the blue card, after every restart of the 3DS?

Or


Is a Sky3DS more suitable for using by kids?

Is there a way to protect the 3DS SysNAND?
My kids are using the 3DS and with turned on WIFI there could come maybe a update notification.

Downgrading to 4.5 could a solution.
But I already do something one with one of my 3DS (downgrade to 4.5 and upgrade the SysNAND) and the risk is too high for me to do same with the second 3DS.

If your kids are very young I would get a sky3ds BUT if an update drops and blocks the cart and one of them updates by mistake your out of luck

Sounds like a plan to me. If you downgrade, no internet needed to boot gw.

For kids, safest is Sky3DS
I specially got a Sky3DS for my kids cause it is very easy to use!
Just pop it in even on FW 9.4.0.21E and play, press button to switch game all there is to

Or you can do the whole downgrade stuff, then you don't need WiFi

Anyway, whatever you do, you always have to be carefull when your kids want to play multiplayer, you need to turn on WiFi for that.

Downgrade your system to 4.x then make 3 bogus WiFi connections in the system settings and you should be good to go regarding the kids. No Internet needed whatsoever.

I downgraded my spare 9.2 console today to 4.4 with no issues. It's the way to go if you want to use the older exploit that doesn't need Wifi.

When you are in Emunand, it is safe to turn on WiFi to update Emunand, it will not update sysnand (be sure you are in emunand (GW before the firmware version))

you can block wifi in sysnand by putting dummy internet settings in sysnand, then they wont get update prompts in sysnand, and can still play online in emunand......worst that would happen then is updating emunand if a update drops that isnt compatible yet.......and even then all you need to do is re-format emunand, i would say sky3ds is simpler for kids, but if/when nintendo blocks sky3ds you are in the exact same position except you cant play newer games, and they have no emunand safety blanket to protect from sysnand updates

I don't know that, but i know you can play local online with it Original game (Mariokart 7) in 2DS (FW 9.4.0.21E), Sky3DS in 3DS XL (FW 9.4.0.21E) and Gateway mode on 3DS (Sysnand 4.5E and Emunand 9.4.0.21E) works perfect

You got a point there, Sky3DS is not future proof, next update can make it useless :/ (or not) we will see how long it last for Sky3DS!

My kids are 8 and 11 years old.
I have protect the 3DS (2pcs) by parent control.

So:
Sky3DS most easy for kids (with risk of blocked after update --> Updating blocked by Parent Control)

Or downgrade to 4.5 (with riks by doing this)
Or Wifi needed

So Sky3DS is the only safe and most easy solution (for kids and no wifi all the time)

Cause Updates or not blocked with parental control on WiFi restrictions
The 3 fake internet SSID's do block it
Roms also have the updates in it

You can always do the website restrictions in your firewall, you can do everything, but eshop and updates are blocked, rest works (webbrowser online play etc...)

I did the downgrade yesterday - works easy.
But with updating the emunand I did something wrong and update the sysnand. :-(
