I started playing Persona Q on Gateway (20h in), but my GW cart started having issues and is unreliable. So I want to continue playing the game on the CFW. Is it possible to use my GW save of PQ with the CIA installed game on CFW? If so, how?

not sure about the cfw, but the compatibility with the cfw is pretty poor afaik, but you could convert to cia and play in gateway mode, even if your gateway card is playing up it wouldn't effect a cia installed game, as long as you can enter gateway mode you can run cia files even if you remove the gateway card

but that being said i dont think there is currently any way to covert a gateway save to cia unless the game is a card2 game

if you know anyone with a MT card they would be able to extract the save from the .sav file and send you it to be re-imported to a cia game using save data filer, but gateway doesn't load up the save until the game is started so you cant extract a card1 save with savedatafiler using a gateway card

The thing is it's seems I have to send back my GW card so I won't be able to enter GW mode without it. That's why I installed the CFW. Persona Q runs on it. It's just that I would like to use my save from the rom.

I know no one with an MT card. Anyone here willing to help me? Why only possible with MT. Can it not be done with a GW card? I have a friend with a GW card I could lend.

its just the way gateway works, how i understand it is gateway load the save up on game launch and dump it to the SD on the game closing, afaik MT automatically load up the save as soon as the rom is selected in the menu and keep it loaded up even if the game isnt launched.....which allows savedatafiler to read the save in order to dump it

What does this savedatafiler actually do? Can't this savedatafiler read a GW's SPI? Once you close a game with GW, the save is copied to SD, but also remains on the SPI. Would this work with savedatafile?

well it seems once you close the game and its transferred to the SD its also wiped from the SPI so afaik, there is no way to dump the saves contents using gateway atm, unless they release a update that manages saves differently

i think its wiped on loading the game and/or exiting the game.......give it a try if you want,....probably be better to save in game then pop it out in use, as powering down also transfersthe save to SD.....if anything would work it would be that......but idk, feel free to try

Just found out that the game itself has a "save to sd" function
I was able to get the save to be loaded in GW emuNand in the CIA. Now I have to copy the save to the CFW SD and load it. Hopefully it works...

What exactly did you do? How was the CFW able to let you transfer the save to the .cia?
As I wrote Persona Q has a build in save/load to/from sd function. I just saved to sd on GW emuNand, copied that save to the Persona Q folder on the CFW redNand and load that in the game.

Oh, it's a built-in function...

Bummer, I'm trying to transfer a save for a different game. Guess I have to keep looking :/
