As of late, I am currently working hard on the second build for this project, which will be released on September 15, 2015. However, in order to make sure a third and final build can be released in 2016, I need some assistance, which you can read more about below. Please consider joining TRADUKO Soft if you are able to help, as it would be greatly appreciated.

FAQ
  • Q: You said most of the translation work is done. Why do you need more assistance?
A: Most of the script has been completed, and will be reinserted. However, there are more text files that are in need of a translation, most of which are game-exclusive story text, which is why assistance is needed. Editing is also needed, in order to prevent any typos or complicated descriptions. No need to worry. The only story text that needs work are the game-exclusive routes. I apologize for the improper explanation.
  • Q: Why did this project take so long?
A: Health and housing issues. A few months after I began this project, I was diagnosed with asthma, which was caused by improper management of the house I lived in. To be more in depth: My landlord never fixed any of the health violations in the house. This is also what caused the housing issues, as I was in a legal battle against my (past) landlord for what had occurred, hence why the project went silent until 2014. As of now, things are much better, which makes it a lot easier to work on this project. Major progress on this project outside of programming and script-writing started within the beginning of 2014 due to the events from the year prior.
  • Q: Will this project ever be released?
A: Of course! However, I cannot guarantee a speedy release without the assistance of other translators and editors if fans want a complete translation of all game-exclusive content in a short timeframe.

  • Q: I am experiencing freezes, bugs, and other errors.
A: This is not a result of my translation of the game. These errors usually occur if you are using a version of the game that is not updated. This game received an update to fix bugs in the game. I will post a tutorial on how to obtain the update data for this game and use it on your PSP. However, if you are experiencing freezes when going to the map screen for the first time; this is due to an anti-piracy method, which we cannot assist you in fixing.

  • Q: Will the second patch fix typos and other errors from the first patch?
A: Yes.

Wow. So much for "work on Puella Magi Madoka Magica Portable is nearly finished, as we have finalized most of the script."

And I'm sure you meant 'unusual' in that screenshot.

Most of the script is finalized. That doesn't mean that it has been reinserted into the game, however. Which is why more translators are needed.

The FAQ I just added should explain more:

A: Most of the script has been completed, and will be reinserted. However, there are more text files that are in need of a translation, which is why assistance is needed. I personally don't understand why a translator is necessary for reinserting the script. Unless you did some business where you translated while playing and now need someone to cross-reference the game files and copy+paste your translations into the right place.

No. You will get to play it. I already can. I checked out the partial patch for a lark and found a couple of errors before you even head to school for the first time. The fact that I can't reconcile what these people are looking for with what jobs they say they need assistance with is bothering me.

From my experience, translators, unless they're also programmers like Mystic here, don't insert translations back into the game. Any decent hacker will find a way to automate that process assuming all the text is in the right place. So pardon my confusion. Maybe I've been playing Japanese games for so long that it's affected my ability to process English correctly.

At any rate, I'm not obligated to show approval for a translation I find lacking, no matter how desperate you or how many other people may be for it. I similarly am not obligated to assist it, but it is within my rights to ask questions about it.

I agree with you when it comes to the fact that I did not explain things as clearly as I should have. I also do want to apologize on behalf of the member who responded to you. While everyone has their own opinion, there were definitely better ways to put it. I'd also like to respond to a few of your complaints, which I hope explain things a little bit better. I also want to thank you for your honesty and your criticisms. I am very happy to hear that you would help us if you could.

The first partial translation of this project was intentionally lacking. It was rushed out as a proof of progress, per se. Since the start of the project -- so many people had been asking for a playable build of the game, especially after seeing test build footage from our testers. So, in order to please everyone, I decided to make a build with all of our tested progess; which is why the story text was hardly translated. There was also an issue with getting staff on board to help edit and translate lines when I was unable to, which caused a lot of problems for everyone. As of September, the member who translated these lines is no longer with us.

This also means that most lines were edited, to improve the overall translation quality.

Now, I'd like to end my post with one more thing. As of lately, I have heard complaints from a few fans about how the personalities of each character are translated, as well as the types of words used. I have a response to this complaint:
The translation of this game will use a very similar script to the official translation of the anime script. This means that all anime-based storylines will be translated similarly. Outside of a few lines and descriptions, there isn't much I can change without redoing most of the script. If you have any complaints about that, just skip this translation, or play the game-exclusive story events. I am not going to edit every single character's personality and ways of speaking just to please a few people, unless there is a much better way of saying whatever the character originally said. I do not get paid for this, and am doing this out of my own free time. As long as there are no errors, I expect people to be happy with the translation.

I hope everyone enjoys the next build of this game; I also hope that people who did not enjoy the first patch for this game try this again with the second patch.

Oh, I definitely can help. In the very least, I'm significantly better than whoever did the work featured in the partial patch. And I should be relatively free until my copy of Rage Burst arrives in February.

I just have reservations about offering help because I feel basically nothing positive for the Madoka Magica franchise, which is why I posed in this thread in the first place: to scope things out a bit. After all, I've helped on games I had no personal interest in before. It just depends on circumstances.

I'd be happy to help edit if you still need an editor. I've worked on Sakura Wars, Shadowrun Sega CD, Ougon Musou Kyoku, and Castle Shikigami, if that helps.
