I recently purchased Sky3ds and a 3DS XL running 9.4.0-21U, this website claims that this combination should be compatible http://www.sky3ds.com/, I have transfered couple of games following the guides posted online and even though they are detected by 3DS I am unable to play them.

When I try to start the game I get an error , "The game card was removed ". Any help will be appreciated.

Have you tried reformatting your SD card? Are the ROM's you have downloaded the same region as your 3DS? Have the ROM's that you have downloaded been scrubbed are they completely original?

No luck I tried reformatting and using V107 of diskwriter and with same result. I am using windows 7 running on parallels I wonder if that is a problem.

That could be a problem with the formatting. Use the Panasonic SD formatter and run windows from boot camp.

dont you have diskwriter and a template

I do , I have followed this guide to dot http://3ds-flashcard.com/blog/detailed-tutorialhow-to-use-the-sky3dsflash-rom-and-change-game/

I am using a sandisk 32 gig SHDC micro SD card, formatted by diskwriter V105 with template 102 that was released on 1/2/2015, I am able to load roms and 3DS can read them and correct art shows up but when I try to start the game after a brief black screen a error shows up that says card was removed. I did try using steps that was highlighted in another thread by holding button for 5 seconds but no luck.

I got my gateway from modchipsdirect and the first time i tried to use it, it was broken so I had to send it back and then it worked.

I'm having the same issue. I have a new 3DS XL purchased the end of November 2014. I first had a red-button Sky3DS, which I've exchanged for a blue-button Sky3DS, both give the same "the Game Card was Removed" error. I have exchanged numerous emails with the Sky3DS team and have not come to a solution. I'm hoping to find anyone who has found a fix, or the root problem. Here's the steps I've taken:

- As stated, replaced the Sky3D card itself
- Tried the following brands and sizes of microsd cards:
-- Sandisk 32GB
-- Sandisk 64GB
-- PNY 4GB
-- Kingston 8GB
-- Kingston 2GB
- Tried several USB and SD Card adapters
- I've tried two windows laptops (Windows 7 and Windows 8). Virtual windows running Windows 7, a fresh clean install, using Parallels. A boot camp, fresh install, of Windows 7.
- Used diskWriter versions: 1.00, 1.04, 1.05, (and the oddly named 1.07, which is older than 1.05)
- I've used their respective template files in various combinations
- I've formatted and reformatted using the several different versions with all the cards listed above, using verify on the newer version of DiskWriter
- Downloaded several different copies of the same ROMs, using the exact same 10 games as a test bed.

So far, I've not had one game run successfully, even once. I suspect that Nintendo has some detection in the newest hardware that Sky3DS hasn't compensated for in the code.

Any help is appreciated.

I have the New Nintendo 3DS XL iswell + Latest Firmware and SKY3DS (red) and have no problems at all:

1. Download DiskWriterV105.exe and template0102.txt
2. Rename template0102.txt to template.txt
3. Right click on DiskWriterV105.exe and 'Run as Administrator'
4. DiskWriter - [options] Change Template (use the Template.txt file you just downloaded and renamed)
5. DiskWriter - [File] Format (never use Windows Format)
6. DiskWriter - [File] Write
7. Select Game/Games to be added
8. Click [OK] on the box that comes up for each game.
9. When it's finished adding the games to your SD card close DiskWriter and Safely remove Removable disk - never do Quick Removal
10. Your done!

You Don't have to reformat the SD Card when you add more roms later or re-pick the template.txt (unless updating it)
just [Write] the new roms on and close.

P.S
- You have to have Microsoft .NET Framework 4 or higher installed for DiskWriter to even work.
- You have Firmware 9.4.0-21U so only USA roms will work - SKY3DS isn't Region Free (roms have to match your Nintendo 3DS Firmware).
eg: I have 9.4.0-21E so i can only play EUR roms (i tried a USA rom and it didn't detect it when inserted)

End of Rom file names:
E or EUR or EU = EUROPE
U or USA or US = USA
J or JPN or JP = JAPAN

(If the Nintendo 3DS isn't detecting the Card - Eject it and push it straight back in while on the home screen)

This is exactly what I am dealing with, I haven't tried replacing the sky3ds yet. One thing to note is that I bought my 3DS XL off of craigslist. It came sealed and running 6X code on it, so I don't think it has to do with new hardware vs old hardware. Since folks are able to run SKY3DS on 9.4.0-21U I am suspecting perhaps there is a bad batch sky3ds(blue) cards out there. I have contacted modchipfactory and now waiting for their response.

I have used same procedure with no luck, it is not a problem with detection. 3DS can detect card and even switch games when blue button is pressed but I get same "game card removed error" when I try to play a game. So far I have tried
Mario Kart 7
Mario 3D
Street Fighter
Star Fox 64

All with no luck.

Out of curiosity what brand/class is your microsd card? I can't imagine that your card read speeds are that abysmal that the game failed to load, I have a class4 card which worked fine too, are you using a sdxc card?
