I'm just gonna ask it bluntly - is it possible?

I've tried installing a RegionFree NTSC-J wad on vWii, but the result was a game that felt like it was running in slowmotion (including the audio). I assume that this is because of PAL's 50Hz problem.
Is there any way to make these games run in 60Hz? More specifically, 'Mario Story' (Paper Mario) for Nintendo 64.
I'm sure that if I don't address this, there's going to be a bunch of people who will tell me that this isn't important, but just for clarification, I intend to speedrun these games, and as such:
  • The game needs to be in 60Hz
  • The game has to be in Japanese (at least in Paper Mario's case), due to certain glitches that are fixed in the PAL / NTSC-U versions
I apologize in advance if the answers are already out there somewhere, but as someone who does not frequent this forum, and isn't very experienced with homebrewing in general, I'd probably look over it.

It should be doable with a usbloader. I know they all let you force the video mode for isos, i would imagine that it works for vc/wiiware games too, although ive never tried it myself.

Not really sure, but I think running games off USB loader is slower compared to VC or disc. i didn't really mention this anywhere, but for speedruns it's probably not ideal to run off usbloader.
I'll still see if I can make it work, and ask a few people what the rules are regarding usb-loaded VC games

My understanding is that unless u are using an old crt tv, the games should play at the rom's original refresh rate no?...

LCD tvs are digital and support a wider range of Hzs, like 24, 50, 60Hz, etc., so there's no excuse really.
When u are playing the games can't u see what is the refresh rate at which the tv is at? On my samsung lcd I just have to press on info (on the tv's remote controller) to see what Hz it is at any given time.

Ofc I'm assuming the european wiiu doesn't ignore the rom's region and doesn't force a 50Hz output at all time (or down/upscaling the framerates while outputing at a different framerate) which would obviously mess up ntsc games... it would be a bit ridiculous I think as that is just an old analog tv standard...

I remember also trying some racing n64 wad vc games months ago that were unplayable cause of the slow frame rate and I just gave up, never tried them through a usb loader or anything that can force a particular frame rate tho...

Not sure where you're getting your info from about usb loading, but with any old usb 2.0 harddrive, you're looking at access speeds at about 8x the speed of reading off a disc in the optical drive. I mean there may be minor slowdown between running off the Wii's NAND and usb, but the difference should be so minuscule, you wouldn't even notice.

Right now I have my Wii U plugged into my Capture Card (Avermedia live gamer HD) with it's output being connected to my monitor. I don't know what consequences this has for the speed, but I wasn't able to get any different results by plugging it into my monitor directly.
it seems that only 50Hz games produce this problem - Super Mario 64 works perfectly fine. I have no experience with playing N64 games through a usb loader, and I wouldn't know where to start. Right now I'm trying to use a wad injector to inject the NTSC-J rom into a 60Hz PAL wad. I have no clue if this is of any use at all (and it probably isn't) but it's worth a shot.
