In a very bizarre announcement to come from Mojang and Telltale, it would appear that the story based gaming studio Telltale, known for their award winning titles The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, are now taking on one the strangest franchises to tell a story in... Minecraft.
In other news, we’re collaborating with Telltale Games to create Minecraft: Story Mode! Here are some bullet points to celebrate!

  • Minecraft: Story mode will be a narrative-driven video game created by Telltale Games. It will be about Minecraft.
  • Mojang is collaborating with Telltale and members of the community to make Minecraft: Story Mode as Minecrafty as possible.
  • The first episode will be released some time in 2015, and will be available on Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android-based devices.
  • Minecraft: Story Mode will be released episodically, just like The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, or the recent Tales from the Borderlands, which is another developer-collaboration series between Telltale Games and Gearbox Software.
  • We’re not intending on creating an “official” story for Steve, or explaining the world of Minecraft in detail. It will be a cool game.
  • The Minecraft 2 thing was a joke. No really. It was a joke.

I do not really have words or a sense of what in the world to say to this announcement. Don't get me wrong, I am still a big Minecraft fan, but seeing it get a story mode is... off-putting to say the least. I have full faith that Telltale could create a very interesting tale for this game, as my trust in them skyrocketed after recently playing their Game of Thrones first episode earlier this month.
I look forward to seeing where this goes, but what is everyone else's take on this

And insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

They're making the same type of game over and over again, and their games so far have been good. Does that mean you're insane if you think this game won't be good?

I'd like to point out that nobody in that boardroom thought this was an insane idea. This should worry you.

I'm actually interested in how this will play out, since most telltale games have branched paths in them and minecraft is all about progressing to get to The End (in various ways), we'll probably have a story line that will at some point split into 2 and each have it's own ending.
Or maybe I'm wrong and they'll screw this up, only time will tell.

Nah SA1 and SA2 were pretty great IMO

Earthworm Jim had a much worst transition to 3d than sonic had and thats why there is no more Jim.
I'd like to remind you of the horror that started it all, Sonic 3D Blast, followed recently by Sonic Boom, aka Sonic 3D Blast 2: Electric Boogaloo

I never beat ewj 3d lol. Still have it though.
