Hardware 3ds xl fuse repair

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with a 3ds xl, to my mind the problem is coming from the fuses because 3ds won't turn on!
I don't have the 3ds in the hands for the moment but I begin to search some information about this problem and also begin to search 3ds xl fuse.
My problem is that just few websites are selling 3ds fuses and they're so expensive...
What the reference of 3ds fuse, are they the same that the nds one?
Are they special to Nintendo 3ds or not?

Yea you will need to find out the value of the device, volts and amps. You could just bridge it but it's not recommended as the initial fuse blew for a reason.

Have you tried a different charger? I would make sure it wasn't that before opening up your 3DS.

Wow people are charging alot for a fuse replacement, it's about 30 seconds work once the pcb is out the case, smd fuses are penny's to buy. Does anyone know the value of the fuses?

0.5Ampers

need to know voltage and amps, id of thought it would be along the lines of 1amp 32v

I have my shell-less 2ds sitting on my desk. I'll grab my multimeter and determine the current and voltage, first thing in the morning. I'll probably need to desolder my fuse to determine the values, but I suppose it would be worth it for the purposes of having this info readily available in the community.

You'll also want to check the shell hinge switch. If you 3ds xl thinks it's closed, then it will refuse to boot.

What happens when you plug your charger in?

-If the charging light turns on for a few seconds and then turns off, then you have an issue with your battery.

-If no lights come on, then you have an issue with one of your fuses. There are two fuses, labled F1 and F2. F1 is located near the charger port and F2 is near the battery port. An 0603 sized 32volt 1amp fuse will work fine. Buy this for $0.28 http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/0603SFV100F/32-2/0603SFV100F/32-2CT-ND/4310658

-If the charging light stays on, then the issue if your hinge switch. Your 3ds thinks it is closed and refuses to boot.

It finally wasn't a fuse problem, the 3ds xl has a battery problem but now the problem is worst, a mirror screen...

That is very interesting. I doubt it will work but you should try formatting your system. If that doesn't work then the pending 9.3.0 upgrade may fix it. Otherwise, you will probably need a new system/motherboard to fix it.

Interesting stuff, I've never seen that happen before. Try replacing your battery. I think your battery isn't outputting enough voltage, which is possibly causing your GPU to glitch.

I remember experimenting with my ds lite and feeding it about double the usual voltage, and the screen got brighter and the touchscreen temporarily malfunctioned. Kudos for Nintendo's solid hardware. It's actually really difficult to electrically damage that stuff.

I also did the same with my 2ds and fed about a quarter more voltage than normal into the circle pad test points, and the touchscreen and circle pad both malfunctioned temporarily. Presumably the analogue input controller was malfunctioning. I also accidentally inverted the circuit and fed voltage through ground and the analogue input was inverted for the x axis, but the y axis malfunctioned.

TL;DR interesting malfunctions can occur with voltage differences, so try replacing your battery. In my personal opinion, I don't think any of the hardware is damaged.

EDIT:
Cracker said to format the system, but in my opinion, you should NOT do this. You have a huge risk of bricking your 3ds right now, because your voltages are probably too high/low. I have no idea what this voltage malfunction could do to your ram and nand storage, so I would avoid formatting the firmware or doing anything risky.

EDIT 2:
On second though, if the battery doesn't help, then it's possible your crystal is bad. If your screen timing is out of sync then you'll see weird graphics like you showed us. This is a bit more difficult to troubleshoot though, because there are multiple crystal clocks on the 3ds system, and I'm not sure what values each of them are for. I do not have a oscilloscope, so I cannot test them.

Hate to bring bad news if you haven't fixed it. It looks like a torn cable. The only other chance I see is the cable may be slightly loose, but unlikely. Mine was finally changed out as a bad board and got it over with. I still have the board minus a robbed charge port.

Hey you seem to have the right idea for my issue... What or where exactly is the hinge switch located? I have taken out the actual hinge itself but I'm not sure that is what you were referring to. When my screen is in a certain position the 3ds xl will work. If it is not you will see the blue light come on for a couple seconds then you hear a popping sound and the unit shuts off.
