Now I use to trade in games for cash or store credit years ago and know that was bad because they ripped you off or didn't give you a lot for the amount given in. Do you think years later doing this sort of thing is still bad to do or good?

I am thinking of trading in my Nintendo DS for the newer model so I can play the new Pokemon games but I don't know if it is worth trading in if I won't get a good deal for it ya know?

What do you guys think I should do?

I sometimes trade in games/media at CeX (a UK game retailer that sells Smartphones/Computer/DVDs and shit) but that's because I got it for cheap and they give it a higher value plus they've got something I also want otherwise I'd not bother trading it.

Though most of the time if I want to sell then it goes either to Amazon (takes a while but someone eventually snatches it) or eBay.

I used to manipulate the trade-in rates to make a profit, but these days I only trade stuff in if I've finished it and have no desire to continue, it sucks monkey balls, or I'm in dire need of cash. I very rarely trade in anything any more to be honest. But I do buy a lot of stuff pre-owned.

Yeah just sell it online or craigslist.
You'll get more money. Trading in just gets you half of what they are going to sell it for.

They never ripped you off. They took your shit and sold it for you. All they did was advance you your meager cut. If you want to cut out the middleman and maybe get some actual money, try selling it yourself.

Generally speaking I never trade in games as I feel that the 10 bucks or so they would give me when I can just play my games every now or then. Personally i think that trading in your ds wouldn't be as smart as say Craig's list as a gamestore has to give less simply to maximize their profit.
