Hacking (UPDATE on Gateway 3DS Team) User Retrofan_K's Bricked (Nand Locked) 3DS console.

As many frequent users of this website and ones who follow the scene closely will know of my experience back in January of this year when my 3DS was legitimately bricked (Nand locked) using Gateways 2.02b release.

Anyway, on with my update. My last email to the GW team was April 2014 and no replies thereafter regarding my returned console, as they promised.

However, I emailed the GW team a couple of days ago regarding my console and that I never received it back and since they announced 9.2 support for their next release, would they be willing to ship out a free card to me, if, and when, I get a new 3DS console.

Mad I know (you may ask why I'm even bothering) since they way I was treated and that I was robbed of my money for the GW cards and my console I never saw again.

Time as passed, so I wanted to kinda bury the hatchet and totally forget the whole experience and move on to buying a new 3DS, as I have been severely put off getting another one since this all happened.


Their response was:-

"We sent all consoles back. I will check for tracking.
Send me address+phone, i send you 2 copies then, for the console".


My question is, do I go ahead with this and give them benefit of the doubt and see if they do actually ship out 2 free cards?

I would say go on, give them what they want and even link this thread in your reply. The last thing they need now is bad publicity.

you bought the card for $50+ and a console that you get for 200$ they sent you back 2 cards that cost them about 20 or less dollars...

nice to hear they have finally made some response on the matter.....still think you should of got a console too....but if it helps put the whole thing behind you, good luck with it, i dont see why they wouldnt be able to send them out though......(but why 2?.....inb4 10 game limit )

would be funny if the day after they ship his 2 cards, the 3ds came in the mail (Got mixed in with a chinese rice shipment sent around the world or something).

I've had a big box take 3+ months to arrive from Hong Kong, many years ago..

However, they say there is tracking that can be checked? Surely they can file a claim with the post office or courier if the item is really lost? If they shipped it via airmail, no insurance... well thats an irresponsible way to ship a high value item and I would take it up with them.

Not the case of being soft.

The way I look at it now, is I ain't got nothing to lose by agreeing to their deal, as getting 2 cards is better than nothing at all and this whole issue has dragged on way to long (nearly a year now)

I could always sell them on and make something back.

yeah tbh you can get a standad 3ds for like £50-60 easy, so 2 gateway cards 1 to keep one to sell and you *nearly* even.....not a bad compromise imo

retrofan_k if i was in your side, i would do a plan b, accept the deal, sell the 2 (or just one) cards and with that money, rent a spam server, and for a few months fill the gateway resellers email contact box with junk from thousand of different emails... so they have a hard time\job replying to emails from stores

That is a sure but risky profit indeed, however saving all the money i would have to spend on those products is also a profit in a way
