Hi there,

First I would like to apologize for this post if it is out of place. I searched and searched but couldnt find answers to the following questions of mine:

1. I have devMenu, what do I use it for now? I tried to run it and my 3ds crashed.
2. Can I still run gateway emunand and use gateway regularly as I did before I installed devMenu?
3. I do plan to install .CIAs on my device (I dont know how to do this but I am going to look at the tutorial for dummies post which seemed very helpful). Here, my question is: can i instal cia files that were never available for download in the eshop?
4. Can i install blarge snes as a CIA?
5. Can I somehow transfer my saves from my gateway to CIA?
6. Is it ok for me to delete the files I dropped from the palentine cfw in my sd card?
7. What should i not screw with at all?
Can someone please provide some answers to these? I know they are some tedious questions, but for a guy who is completely lost, I would love some help. I was burried with college work and this is the only time I ever had to actually go out and install this.

thanks.

if you have Gateway, no need for this CFW. as devMenu can be installed by 2.6.

with that you can install all the CIA you want.. almost any anyway.

What Flame said. Unless you don't have a Gateway, there's currently no real reason to run the leaked CFW.

Sooner or later it'll be fixed up, but right now it's kinda a "last-resort" setup.

1. If you are using the correct version of DevMenu (DevMenu_2x.cia) it should start right up from emuNAND. Any other version will most likely not work. Not sure whether BigBlueMenu will work on CFW.
2. Sort of, using two SD cards. It's better to install DevMenu on GW emuNAND if you have a Gateway. It's more stable, has higher compatibility, and you won't need to juggle multiple SD cards in order to have CFW and GW emuNAND at the same time.
3. Yes as long as you can find/make a CIA of it. Some may need to be repacked to successfully install on 4.x CFW, or to make them region free.
4. I think you will have to repack it, but yes. Almost anything that can be ran as a ROM can be repacked into CIA and installed, as long as you use the correct parameters and rsf file.
5. Only for card2 games at the moment I think. SaveDataFiler will not work with save files on card1 games. Perhaps the Save Data Transfer Tool will work for some games, I haven't heard anyone try it.
6. Everything except launcher.dat
7. Avoid updating it. Other than that there is not much you could do wrong.

All of this applies to DevMenu on GW 2.6 as well, except that GW is region free, and since it runs a higher firmware compatibility is better.

Yeah, you could just run 'BigBlueMenu.3ds' from your red cart to install DevMenu on your emunand and from there install everything else you want.

So if it is more stable to install through gateway, how do I do so? I dont at all want to juggle around multiple sd cards. I want to use one only. Also since you said it is more stable on gateway. Is there anyway I can somehow repeat the process so i can install through gateway (and how at that please)

update to 2.6

find BigBlueMenu on the web.. put BigBlueMenu.3ds on microSD and put BigBlueMenu.cia file on SD card and install though BigBlueMenu.3ds

and you are done.

Use BigBlueMenu.3ds like mentioned. Put BigBlueMenu.cia on your 3DS SD card, run BigBlueMenu.3ds from GW, use it to install BigBlueMenu.cia onto your emuNAND.
That's it.

Now if you used the same SD card to install the CFW on as you had your emuNAND on before, it's easiest to just format emuNAND again from the GW menu, so you can use it with the GW again.

Use BigBlueMenu.3ds like mentioned. Put BigBlueMenu.cia on your 3DS SD card, run BigBlueMenu.3ds from GW, use it to install BigBlueMenu.cia onto your emuNAND.

So this is what I have to do:

using the same sd card as the one with cfw:

1. place gw 2.6 launcher .dat on my sd card
2. (already have a backed up nand.bin)
3. format emunand.
4. place the big blue .3ds on micro sd of red gateway.
5. place the bigblue cia on the sd card.
6. run gateway and click the bigblue .3ds and i should be done?
7. Update my emunand to the latest :)
correct?

sorry i just want to make sure.

thats sounds about right. but be careful updating your emunand and not system nand.

once you have updated your emunand! i mean emunand use a different color theme so you know that you are in emunand for future use.

if you want bigblueMenu on your emunand install the CIA file.

No worries! I had someone on the forums hadmod my 3ds so if anything goes wrong, I can always restore back to 4.x :)

I've never actually used the leaked CFW before, but from anecdotal evidence that other users have said PLUS what the actual creator of the CFW said, it's a very very early build riddled with bugs and unstable as hell. Some have stated that loading a ROM fails more times than it succeeds.

Appears to be far easier to just get a gateway TBH.

Redid the process and installed with gateway. (installed something called title manager which i think is what i am looking for right)

Fun fact, BBM does work fine on the leaked CFW. I installed it out of curiosity and it boots right up and installs things fine.
