I have an Xbox 360 slim, 250gb with the manufacture date of 2011-10-14. I am 99% sure it is Corona, and it has a LiteOn Drive. I was looking around for someone to flash my drive for me, and on craigslist someone wrote

"---The Price for Slim Models is $40--- Note: Slims With a Manufacture Date of August 2011 or Later require a more expensive procedure, including installation of a $40 part. Inquire for details

I was wondering if this guy is just ripping people off, or does it really require a $40 part to flash?
Also, can someone lead me to a guide on how to flash this?

I'd honestly get an Xkey.
It's just about the same price (Xkey is 80 quid)
Seeing a replacement board and flashing is also 80 quid.

Besides, you can hook up an external HDD to it and dump your games on that.
No more flashing, no more fiddling around with things.

Okay, I found another guy on craigslist that can RGH with DuelNand, for $100. Would that be better?

If you don't mind reading a bit more into 360 hacking and are willing to spend a bit more then I'd say go for it.
Otherwise, xkey if you want maximum simplicity.

Ive flashed a few Xbox360s and the answer is yes newer drives require more work to flash because of changes in the firmware (I wont go into details here) As a person who owns a Jtag console, a flashed console and a Console that's Xkey fitted, the Xkey console and the jtag are the only ones i use, i put the flash one in storage lol. DinohScene is 210% correct on the matter Xkey is cheaper vs getting someone to flash your console because you don't need to burn DVDs F**king them up and burning them again worse case getting banned from live from bad burns and challenge question checks (F**k that S**t!! Xkey handles all of that just make sure it a good dump) buy a 3 or 4tb external drive and you're set for life;sort of. Jtag/RHG is another story, you can play anything you want xbla, God games but you cant go live without a stealth which cost a S**t load of money from my research on it. bottom line is if you have a live account and go live everyday like me, get the xkey with the remote, its so easy to install a caveman can do it. if you're a off-liner go for the jtag/rhg console.
Note: a little bit more on the jtag/RHG console; if you deside to go with this console you have to keep the dash updated if newer games isnt working, you still will need a buy a big drive for it. at the time of jtaging my Xbox360 the 2.5 drives were to small so i did a mod (see avatar pic) to get a 3.5 to work for that terabyte space. Hell buy them both if you have the money lol. the choice is yours my friend, good luck

2TB lappy drives are readily available as of now.
Besides, 1TB should be plenty enough to store yer games.
Unless you're a hoarder....

I got a 500 GB in me RGH and it's more then enough.
And i store a lot of beta/developer/alpha copies on me consoles;p

I went for the big drive because of the size of those rips 8gb d**m!! a program called Iso2god came along with the padding feature to reduce the size. I have d**m near every xbla game and Avatars on it with plenty of space left, i believe i made the right choice. Now for i got to get one for my jailbroken ps3 because them game rips dont get me started!!

Why not use the game extract method?
No padding at all?

PS3 gamerips are also easy, just delete unneeded languages and it'll shrink the game considerably.
Same with 360 rips.
Just rip out the foreign audio and you'll have it shrunk in no time.

Also, why would you have every XBLA game on yer 360....
It's not like you're going to play them all ._.
Might be me but I think it's a waste of space personally, dun take it personally tho.

the 3.5 drives are cheaper than the 2.5 so the extra space didn't hurt my pockets at all "_", as for the xbla games i was looking for a specific old xbla game that came out around xbox360 release couldn't find it so i found a full pack with the game included, had the space for it, what the hell, download it, installed it. there where games i forgot about in there so that's a plus

Back then, 3.5 inch drives where cheaper yes, nowadays their the same price.

I still call it hoarding but whatever, I can't decide things for you to do ;]
