The 3DS scene, along with this forum section, has recently escalated a bit.
Questions and answers are scattered throughout this forum.

So I have summarized the most common questions and answers right here.
Mostly regarding the 7.x key, CFW, developer tools, GateWay developer tool support, BigBlueMenu , CIA files, new tools, and the new Sky3DS flashcard and copies made by Sky3DS themselves, all conveniently summarized in spoilers.

Some of the files discussed here you must obtain on your own.
The keys and developer kits are copyrighted by Nintendo, sharing it therefore is illegal.

The decryption key for software used since the 7.x FW update from Nintendo was leaked.​
It can be used to decrypt software, nowadays often used to convert .3DS ROMs to .CIA file formats and modifying the exheader.​
More info about the exheader, can be found under the "DevKit Tools" spoiler and then inside the "DevMenu" spoiler.​
Not too long after the leak of the 7.x decryption key, the same person leaked a, apparently outdated and unstable, method to run a CFW via EmuNAND, and install a .CIA file. The .CIA was a DevMenu, modified so it could install via the CFW. This method relies on a ROP chain, and is exclusively working on 4.x FW's.

The leak currently used by the majority of the scene was released some time ago, 14/04/2014, to be precise.
But in the light of recent events the files became useful to the public. In particular these three tools have catched the eyes of the public:

The DevMenu is used to install and remove CIA files.
However, not all CIA files will work, the exheader may has to be changed.

You can find more info about CIA files and the uses they make possible, along with dealing with the exheader here and here.

The SaveDataFiler is used to export and import save files from and to the system and Card2 games.
It also works for eShop and games installed via CIA.
For GateWay users, in order to export or import your save file, you must select the Card2 game before launching SaveDataFiler.

In the progress of exporting the save file, it will be saved on the SD card in decrypted form.
Thus making it possible to edit the save content.
And transfer saves between different region save files of the same game, more info about that can be found here.

While there already was a scene release for it in 3DS file format, by 3DSGuy, which could be used before the installation of Developer Tools.

People were wondering how to run the PlayCoinSetter from the leaked developer tools.
Because of the exheader as explained under the "DevMenu" spoiler this wasn't possible right off the bat.

The Gateway team has released a quick 2.6 update, to compete with the leaked CFW.

The update brings a stable and easy way to run developer tools, by running .CSU files, which can be renamed to 3DS to work with the Gateway.

Although, you may need to modify the so called exheader as explained under the "DevKit Tools" spoiler and then inside the "DevMenu" spoiler.

The BigBlueMenu is a repacked DevMenu of the latest public SDK 6.2.0, to work with current methods of running developer tools.

CIA stands for "CTR Importable Archive", which is like a WAD file, known from the Wii scene.
These files can currently be installed by leaked developer tools from Nintendo.

Although, you may need to modify the so called exheader as explained under the "DevKit Tools" spoiler and then inside the "DevMenu" spoiler.

The Gateway team is leading the flashcard scene, especially after Nintendo releasing the new 7.x encryption , leaving it's clones in the dust. Namely the R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe, 3DS Link and Orange 3DS, and a exact look a like clone with a different pin-out: image.

The MT-Card team has yet to make a move regarding EmuNAND 7.x support.

But now the Sky3DS is announced, bringing support for 9.X FW 3DS's, so there is no more need for 4.x 3DS's, along with a few, now to be believed copies made by Sky3DS themselves, presumably to boost sales.

This tool by Relys can decrypt your 3DS ROMs.

More info can be found here.

This tool by Relys can decrypt your downloaded eShop files which are stored on your SD card.
However it only will work on the 3DS you downloaded the eShop files with, as it requires that same 3DS to decrypt the files as well.

This tool by Gericom can browse, edit, view, explore and modify files of 3DS ROMs, thanks to the seperate plugins which are included.

Code for dealing with Smash 4 data, by comex.

It gives the ability to unpack/extract the game files of Super Smash Bros 3DS.

This tool by piratesephiroth can easily modify the exheaders in repacked ROMs.
This is done by simply getting the right RSF file for the ROM, and modify the necessary settings.

What's the point to convert the 3DS files to CIA files?

I know the DLC's files are CIA files, but why converting 3DS files to CIA fimes for games? Can't we just run the 3DS files for games directly without converting them ?

Converting to CIA allows installation to SD card. No gate way card needed.

It's just for unpacking. If somebody wants to port it over to a plugin for Gericom's Every File Explorer and write repacking functions that person would be a pretty cool dude.

Indeed. Having custom music and, eventually, high quality audio would be pretty nice.

There is one fault: we don't know if K3DS/ R5SDHC are clones from the SKY3DS or if they are the same company or something else.

Sorry for the late reply.

But I think it is pretty clear, especially now, that they are clones, right?
Or is there a topic that dismisses that statement I've skipped?

they are more likely carbon copy's, not clones, they had them ready at the same time as sky3ds, the people who sold the design must of sold it to more then one company.

It's entirely possible that they're actually all made by the same people - we all remember the R4 clone era. ;)

i only came from the vita scene to the 3ds scene this month so i missed out all the fun it seems.
