Using this guide: http://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-converting-3ds-to-cia-for-dummies.373722/

I can successfully convert pretty much any .3ds file that I've tried to far to an installable .cia file that installs and saves properly.

When I try to do the same for games that I have patched with Gateway ROM Patcher v1.0 so I could play online, I wind up with a few more .xorpad files than usual.

000400000007C700.Main.exefs_norm.xorpad
000400000007C700.DownloadPlay.romfs.xorpad
000400000007C700.Manual.romfs.xorpad

When I tried the same thing with Mario Golf: World Tour, I also have a file that was something like 000400000007C700.Main.exefs_7.x.xorpad.

I tried decrypting the usual ones, by renaming Main.exefs_norm and Main.exefs_7.x so they didn't have the underscore or anything after it. Always fails. Says that the ROMfs is wrong.

Has anyone successfully converted any .3DZ files patched for online play so far? I could use some help.

#1. A lot of other games comes with 2 exefs. Use only exefs_norm and you'll be fine
#2. That game can't be converted for some unknown reason. My thread shows a list of games that can't be converted.

It's not a .3DZ problem

All the games I converted for personal use are .3DZ, and they work fine.

For the record, the .3DS and .3DZ is just an extension change, which gateway uses to identify whether it has a header.
It does not affect conversion; conversion fault is at the game/rom itself, not the extension.

So, do I need to do anything at all differently when converting .3dz files? Can I just use the rom_tool info.bat information as I have been doing to edit the .rsf file, with what it shows, instead of the header I injected with Gateway ROM Patcher for online play?

you can use whatever that shows you the correct information :D

I use my same steps for converting both 3DZ and 3DS.

like I said, only extension difference.

The rom header is not exactly the same as exheader requiredd (I think).

Both 3DS File Explorer and the rom_tool info.bat show me the info I need to fill out the .rsf file with normal .3ds ROMs. I was just wondering if since I had patched these if I would need to replace the information that I fill out in the .rsf file to reflect the header I injected, rather than the actual ROM's information.

well the information in the header are different right.
it asks for hardware manufacturer and stuff.
you don't need that ><

Just use the normal ways.

like I said, I converted 3DZ, didn't do any 'extra step', and they work fine + online.

(I have yet to tried taking a scene rom converted to go online)

I think that's where I am running into the problem. All of my games that are converted for online play are patched scene releases.

I think something is going wrong in the process because the header doesn't match something that has been patched in the ROM, itself.

About to try with Kid Icarus, and see if I run into the same issues.

It's pretty long and detailed. Right now I am installing Ocarina of Time. When that completes, I will try again with Tetris Axis, since it's pretty small, and copy and paste the logs here so you can see what it says.

do 'reply' to me then (so that I see the pop up)

A screenshot will do.

If it's something like:
Code:
[ROMFS ERROR] Invalid RomFS Binary.
[NCCH ERROR] NCCH Build Process Failed
[RESULT] Failed to build outfile

you may have keyed your 7.x key wrong.

until then..
