Hacking New 3ds XL with Supercard DSTWO

hey guys, Aussie here, I'm getting the New 3ds XL in November on Launch Day, what is the chance of being able to use my current supercard DSTWO on the new 3ds xl, thanks

I would say pretty good. Even if Nintendo decides to block the DS carts for the new console (which seems unlikely, knowing how they haven't cared about DS mode carts for something over 8 months now), I would imagine that Supercard team would be the first ones to release firmware update for their cart.

If previous versions of Nintendo products are not backwards compatible past the previous version like how the wii played gamecube, the wii u plays wii, the 3ds did ds and the ds played gba and so on it doesn't look too good for the future of ds carts and not to mention sspawn works on a ds cart exploit

Definitely the best ds card hands down, my concern is more of ds cards may not be compatible all together

Good news for those of you who accidentally updated before updating your DSTWO, it is possible to update from your 3DS, however this method is risky, and not recommended if you can use the normal method in the above spoiler.

In order for this method to work, your 3DS must already recognize the DSTwo and show this icon (if it doesn't show up you're gonna have to use the normal upgrade method in the above spoiler).

This icon simply tells you that the DSTWO is already on a firmware that supports this upgrade method, if you already had firmware 1.13 or above on your DSTWO, this method should work.


1. Download the latest firmware from the top of this post.

2. Extract "dstwoupdate.dat" to the root of your microsd card and rename it to "dstwoupdateb.dat".

3. Put your microsd card into your DSTwo and insert it into your 3DS.

4. Turn on the 3DS and launch the DSTwo, you will see this screen.

Stay on this screen, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING, and just wait and wait for 3 minutes, IF YOU TOUCH ANYTHING YOU MAY BRICK YOUR DSTWO.

5. After the 3 minutes is up, turn off the 3DS, then put the microsd card back into your computer and delete "dstwoupdateb.dat".

6. You can now put your microsd card back into your DSTwo, and back into your 3DS, and now your DSTwo should be on the latest firmware, and it should work normally on your 3DS on the latest firmware.

The 3DS plays both DSi and DS titles, so this means nothing. There are no drastic differences between the hardware in the N3DS and the 3DS other than an increase in RAM and CPU/GPU and the addition of more input methods. DS itself is already (partially) emulated so that's not even anything to be worried about, and there's no reason why the N3DS wouldn't support it.

They've already confirmed it will support ds games. Like, on the day it was announced.

I have never tried it but I am very curious how well the GBA emulation is with games like Minish cap and Boktai 1-3? Also where is the best place to buy theSupercard \ DStwo?
