A slew of Japanese players who were in on the action and playing as Princess Peach got a special surprise when a small portion of those Peach players found a game-breaking exploit and began abusing it.
After players found a way to use Peach’s turnip throw move in the “For Glory” mode, a mode that bans players from using items, Nintendo swung its mighty ban hammer, perhaps too carelessly,
and banned every Peach player from over the weekend.

Makes me wonder if Nintendo can detect the thousands of people using the same header in smash bros

There was actually a statement released from Nintendo acknowledging that they had banned some players in error.

well duh i know that...coulden't they just change the next update to look for certain tell tale signs of a flashcart user and bam. banned?

I don't think they care that much. If that was the case, hundreds of Gateway users would have been already banned. The headers are what would make this process quite simple for Nintendo.

Well, unless the headers are like serial numbers for that particular game's online access. If headers are just serial numbers for access to ninty online services, it will be much harder to enforce. Given that you can use any header to make a game online playable, I think it will be the latter.

We already know that those are specific cartridge IDs since months ago.
