Hello. Will the JPN rom version of the new smash bros work on my USA 3ds? I am on gateway 2.2 omega i believe. Will the rom work fine for me or will i need to update?

It will work fine on Gateway 2.3b +EmuNAND 8.1(or higher) +2.5 GB free on SD card. For Online Play you NEED a JP 3DS, because of a the JP eShop Patch.

No it won't work on 2.2b, it literally takes less than a minute to update to 2.3b.

I'm not sure why you would not want to use the latest Gateway firmware. Also updating EmuNAND is safe as long as you understand the difference between SYSnand and the EMUnand. If you mess up your console, it can be restored through a hardware-mod as long as you have a valid SYSNAND dump from your OWN console. Please be sure to READ ALL THE STICKIES before doing anything.

It wont work on 2.2.
Its safe to update emunand ONLY when you have updated to launcher 2.3

The game does too. Switch to another app will avoid it soft reseting.

Yeah I learned this the hard way... forgot to turn wifi off after I downloaded the demo and now I have the nag screen on my SYSnand. =\ Oh well.

Basically it's the same as closing out of system settings. It resets your 3DS so it goes back to your 4.X firmware or SysNAND. Basically, it just kicks you out of EmuNAND/Gateway mode.

Soft reset will kick you out of EMUNAND and put you back onto SYSNAND. So just be careful not to update your 3DS accidentally because of this. When playing the Demo you can open the camera APP instead of closing the game , then close that app and you will still be in EMUNAND.
