Capcom confirmed that the next installment in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is coming soon to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. Surprisingly, the game will not be released on Nintendo platforms - the 3DS and the Wii U, despite the fact that Resident Evil: Revelations was originally a Nintendo 3DS exclusive, later ported to other systems. Does this confirm speculations that "mature" games "don't sell" on Nintendo platforms? Only Capcom's accountants know for sure.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will be released early 2015.

So we went from a 3DS-only title that was ported over to consoles and PC to a Console and PC title that won't appear on any Nintendo platform. It's platform hopscotch.

That's a strange trajectory, I tell ya what.

Well done capcom, shun the console that actually kept this series alive after the train wreck that was Resident evil 6. Well done.

It's barely even football season and already the maddening has begun.

lel wut? Revelations sold like garbage, I would say it managed to only kill off the series even more so than the later releases (which actually sold better than Revelations). It only managed to sell over a million copies when it was ported to PC/360/PS3, and that's the combined total from the 3.

Let's face it - the only reason why they would skip Nintendo platforms this time around is if the game sold like garbage on said platforms or if selling the game on them is not profitable. They don't even have the "porting" excuse, the engine is already there, they're just not releasing the game because it won't make money, or so I suspect.

Perhaps they are developing an updated mt framework for home systems only right now, so porting to handheld would be costly, having to modify the mobile version of the engine engine just for one game (so far). Perhaps it will get ported on handhelds at a later time.

Anyway, it's on the best+most available system there is, could have gone worse.

inb4 they split the fanbase into Actionloaded madness of the original series and horror slow paced gameplay for Revelation series.
It's kinda sad that a spin off is doing what the main series should do.

I agree sells of this game for 3DS weren't good but I'd never compare the two. It can't be helped that it finally got ported to console waaaaaay after the 3DS release. I myself when having small debates on handhelds I like to use this game to showcase what the 3DS can do.

Being that I've spent over 700 hours to Raid Mode on 3DS and 200 plus on 360 https://www.residentevil.net/rev/en/xbox/o519161.html I can honestly say that the online site helps keep those who play to keep playing ^_^ Online events are great and really competitive, with great rewards.

BTW nice T-Abyss virus watches ^_^

Well. Capcom. As someone who's a fan of zombie games and currently only has Nintendo hardware...

Fuck you.

They just lost a sale. I'm not even gonna buy the PC version if they're just gonna fuck over the consoles responsible for producing arguably one of the best games in the series.

I would have said it was Capcom's chosen devs that were responsible for the game, the console would seem to be here nor there in this case, and most other cases.

you know i was going to pick this game up, after hearing it was coming out next year. however seeing that i only have a 3ds right now (i have no desire to shell out 500 bucks for a xbox one i may or may not like, or a ps4 at the moment for that matter.) the best resident evil games i own are on the 3ds, it could handle the first game just fine so why pass it up on the second game. and me and my friends agree the best way to sometimes enjoy resident evil is on a long car ride home in the dark or at a camp site in the dark alone. the feeling of fear terrorizes you, because your imagination wanders more easily, in a room you know the point of entry. you know if someones coming in to a house, but by playing it on the hand held and having the chance to play it anywhere. The fear is much more real, because you believe that at any moment something could surprise you. capcom lost another sale here, i'm not gonna bend over backwards and buy a 500 dollar game system, for one game when i already have a fully working system that can handle resident evil almost if not as well as the consoles.

It seems most people are only focusing on the fact that this isn't on the 3DS.
Why not consider the fact that, being on Console/PC, this may allow more content and better visuals?
Focus on the game, not the platform it's on.
