So i just got my first gateway card, backed up nand on my pc. Now if I go into the gateway settings and click boot to gateway mode, press select, I get the multirom selector just fine. But if i go to the settings screen, it still says var. 4.5.0-8u? Shouldnt it say like GW3D?

yes, it should say GW3D if you setup an EmuNAND. But if you exit the settings it reset the console and exit Gateway mode.

make visual changes to both realNAND and EmuNAND (move the icons, change the size, create different folder name, etc.).
for example, make a Folder "Emunand" on your EmuNAND. it will be named "E"
and a "Real NAND", named "R"
you will differenciate it easily without going to the settings (because if you exit the setting, you exit Gateway mode)

Dang it... I'm sorry. Do you always have to go to settings and the ds profile holding L to get into gateway mode even after you format the NAND?

Once everything is set up. You always have to launch the profile in order to launch up gateway mode, without holding L though. Only hold the L to enter the gateway menu. Without holding L will launch the Gateway EmuNAND. It's somewhat a pain to do it every single time to do this, but quite worth it.

To tell the difference between the two, seeing they look very identical. Change the icons around in the main menu of both. EG, game icon to the left, while on EmuNAND it's on the right.

If fresh booting, yes. You only need to hold L if you want to get to the Gateway menu itself. Otherwise, select the DS Profile and it will boot straight into Gateway mode. You can just use sleep mode if you want to avoid having to do that.

The important thing is that you have actually set up an EmuNAND using the Format EmuNAND option.
