So today it was revealed that Nintendo are releasing the N3DS on October 11th 2014 in Japan and 2015 for ROW.

FEATURES SO FAR:

  • Second Circle Nub
  • Slightly Bigger Screen
  • ZL and ZR
  • Better 3D that can be viewed from the sides
  • Micro SD Support
  • Better Browser
  • More Ram
  • Faster CPU (Some games can only be played on the New 3DS such as Xenoblade)
  • Auto Brightness adjust like in phones/tablets
  • Wireless PC file transfer to SD card and such
  • SFC Buttons
  • Customized menu and themes (Will come in an update for older systems thank god)
  • Faceplates (for smaller 3DS)
  • Bunch of shit rearranged for some reason, i;e Card Slot at the bottom, Stylus at the bottom etc.
Just look at at beautifully coloured buttons :/

This is what puts me down as I just bought a 3DS XL

Faster CPU (Some games can only be played on the New 3DS such as Xenoblade)

These "exclusive" games will only run on this newer model which renders the rest of the community in a pretty shit state. All the best titles will probably come out on this due to the extra RAM and CPU.

Can Gateway 3DS counter by over-clocking our systems or spoofing the games into thinking we own a N3DS. I'm not in the position to buy a new console but can make room for a Circle Pad Pro XL if Gateway delivers. The N3DS will probably be on latest firmware or a completely new one with more security against exploits.

Why Nintendo? Why!?

Well, GW won't work. Wouldn't say it's the end though.
The end will only come when there's a better way to pirate.

Also, "More RAM"
Source please.

Overclocking: Well the process itself would be possible with the kernel exploit Gateway utilizes (I guess), but not to that extend if you don't want to see your 3DS go up in flames ^^
Spoofing: Well that wouldn't be of any use since those games would run in slow motion at best, that would be like running a 3DS game on a DS
As to exploits I hope that we will be able to find a kernel exploit but I highly doubt it sadly.

Where did you get the facts about more ram and more CPU? and also Xenoblade being an exclusive?. Does not mention anything about these facts on Direct.

*ssspwn delayed*.....lol jkn....but i wonder what FW they will ship on

personally it looks like its just a 3DS with the circle pad thing included....rather than a whole new console

but still how is it related to the "end of gateway"....if you mean because gateway wont work on it, well you might as well say the 2DS was the end of gateway

Better CPU and exclusive Xenoblade was in the direct, but I can't find anything about RAM.

Yeah but the Xoneblade may be an exlcusive to sell the new handheld does not mean its an exclusive because its more powerful than the 3DS. I think we will probably find the original CPU in the 3DS has been overclocked but I doubt more ram has been added as well because if so why package it back up as a 3DS Lighter, why not bring it out as a new model altogether!

What I've read over the Internet suggest these exclusive titles require the extra horsepower and built in CPP to run. I mean Xenoblade has a massive over-world and would require the extra RAM and CPU to produce such scale, no?

Anyone who understands Japanese or has reliable English sources can correct if I'm wrong.

@ Gamesquest1: I mean Gateway might not be able to run the Exclusives such as Xenoblade :/

yeah but you can pretty much be sure most games will be working fine for the standard 3DS too, nobody would want to alienate the majority of their customer base

i think this was their "new business model"....basically copy apple and release a new model every year with a few basic upgrades.....and name them the "NEW" 3ds

Well Gateway may not work, but what about that exploit ssspwn or whatever its called? That would probably more likely work before a new revision of Gateway eventually (possibly not) comes around for the new models on the latest firmware.

Seriously WTF is Nintendo doing?! Could they pls stop making a new version of their handhelds every two months?! how in the world shall the consumer market look through this chaos of 3ds and nds versions. The marketing department of Nintendo is sooooo bad!
I give nintendo maximum 5 years until they become insolvent. They will release maybe one next-gen console, but when it flops again, the end of Nintendo is near....

Its a revision a year: 2011 - original. 2012 - XL. 2013 - 2DS. 2014 - New models. Really at this point it should be expected. Which is what really makes me glad I held off on the XL. By the time this comes out in America, I'll have had my launch model for nearly 4 years. That is perfectly fine amount of time for me to hold onto it before getting the new XL. Hell I don't think I had my DSi 2 full years before I got a 3DS, but I must have had my original DS for about 5 years.

That was what I was thinking why bring out a new handheld just to annoy others that have purchased a 3DS XL or even the latest 2DS to find out they are bringing a new handheld out that is needed to play brand new top tiles. It would not make financial sense for Nintendo else customers would get very pissed off this way and start walking!

i thinks its basically another......*dsi* situaltion....no real reason to buy it and no real "exclusives" except the odd 1 or 2 to try get people to upgrade

Yeah, but unlike Apple, Nintendo actually releases products that don't give fan base the mentality that their product is better than yours, nor are they overpriced :creep:

I got my 3DS a couple months ago. :-(

This is what I am talking about, people like this guy, I bet hes pissed off now hes heard this news! It would not make sense. I don't think it will be any different than the 3DS apart from a couple of exclusives to sell the unit.
