How Long Are The PS4/Xboner Going To Last?

So I don't mean how long they be work fo. I hear the MS and the Sony saying dat PS4 and Xboner will last 10 years. Dat dis so called "generation" of consoles will be 10 years. Is dis gonna be real?

I mean, it longer than last gen last for. Longer than most "gens" out of all of them, u understand m8?

If my understanding is correct, last gen going in, the 360 and PS3 were like super high-end for the time. Even sold for a loss. Dis time around, they be only mid-end dawg. Sold for a profit. Dis make it hard to last 10 years. Dis make it harder to last even as long as last time around.

So tell me dawg, are MS and Sony lying to us? Ya don't candycoat nothin. I haven't bought neither, so I don't give a damn if it makes you fell bad. I mean there hasn't been a CoD for next gen only yet, so I aint care about it yet.

They still be supporting dat dawg. Prob gonna be fo another year. Also haf decent PC on my hands right now wiz one o those i5s an GTX760. Guess just gonna ride out on dose two. I don't speak retard, but going off the title... I imagine this generation will last at least as long as previous ones. Consoles have never been powerhouses of technology, so unless there's some massive breakthrough, I doubt this gen will die early. But who knows.

Really it depends on if there are some major advancements in chips sometime soon.

If Intel and AMD are kinda stuck where they are right now in terms of performance and GPU's haven't been making leaps and bounds either. The companies really will have no reason to release new hardware. Selling games is where the real market is.

Wouldn't make much sense for MS to release an Xbox Two if all they did was fix what was funky about the Xbox One and Sony wouldn't release a PS5 if all they could boast was a 5% increase in performance. No one would buy it if they couldn't see a difference in the games.

For the next generation we need something really new/old to shake things up again. Switch back to carts and ditch optical media and hard drives all together. 5 years from now SD media could be cheap enough to get 64GB's for next to nothing. Make part of it writable for levels and saves or patches and enjoy.

Maybe a company will finally merge the portable and home markets? That would be pretty cool in some ways too.

I don't think this generation is gonna last nearly as long as the previous ones, let alone 10 years.

Same goes for the portable market such as the 3DS and PS Vita, since the Android / iOS market is slowly rendering them useless, as new and better games come out. In other words, a 4DS or a Vita 2, would be the biggest mistake Sony or Nintendo could make.

So yeh, maybe it will last a a few years. But I don't see it lasting as long as their predecessors. On top of which they now have to worry about the Steam giant, and its competitive prices which have been practically stealing thousands of players to Gabe Newell's side.

Also, if they launch the Steam Machines at competitive pricing (such at the same price as a Xboxone or a PS4, or even lower), i'm pretty sure Valve alone will cripple the market.

I even think that the fact that nintendo announced a new console was also a pretty heavy influence for MS and sony to announce theirs.

These consoles will be around for absolutely years. My guess would be at least 2020 before the next consoles even begin to gather any hype.

There is nothing wrong with the current consoles we have. I would guess that the 1080p telly isn't going to replaced anytime soon in the majority of houses because it absolutely doesn't need to be and any new console which does eventually come out from Sony or MS or anyone else that decides to jump on the bandwagon in the future you would imagine would take the next step up to 2K for gaming. They are not going to do this until TV's like this are in the majority of homes. Here in the UK, we don't even get 1080p TV yet as far as I'm aware so its a long long way off.

These consoles will still be around and still be being produced ten years from now it's a certainty.
