So, I've had this cartridge for about 2-3 weeks and it worked fine. I've also been using Powersaves with the cartridge, and I have not encountered the main issues of save data corruption that are often spoke about.

I've been cloning via pokebank for about three days now and suddenly today I ran into a bit of an issue. While restoring a saved backup, the Powersaves window changed and said "Unsupported Game." Literally 10 minutes beforehand I cloned a batch of pokes for someone without an issue (not to mention all the issue free cloning I did last night and this morining).

Thinking it was just a slight hitch, I took the cartridge out of the device and reinserted it. The same message appeared. I tried putting the cartridge in my 3DS, thinking it was just a save file corruption, but the 3DS failed to even detect the cartridge. After about an hour of going back and forth, there was no luck. It was as if the cartridge was wiped clean of any data.

I tried searching Google for similar issues, but only the basic Powersaves issues seem to be posted. I handle it lightly with Powersaves, and only had to hard eject it once as the progress bar wasn't moving ;however, that was either yesterday or two days ago, and the cartridge functioned just fine. I will mention that last night I accidentally ejected the cart while the game was running, but it functioned fine in the hours after I put it back in. I tried to "clean" the cartridge, and blow on both the cart and 3DS, but that didn't work (the cart was brand new; only 2-3 weeks ago, and I keep it usually inside the 3DS). Eventually, I gave up and called Nintendo to send it in for repair.

I don't understand how a perfectly fine cartridge could just wipe out, and seeing how apparently no one else on the web has run into this problem as a result of Powersaves, I'm doubting its mainly Powersaves fault, and probably a cartridge issue. Any information, tips or assistance would be very appreciated. I'd like to not run into this problem again with future carts, or possibly even fix this mess myself.

Probably just a flaw with the cartridge itself, I've seen quite a few of these nand-based games break on their own, or just not work in general even after first purchasing it. If you recently picked it up, maybe go return it. If not, you might have to grab a new one.

I was worried that I had done something terribly wrong (then again I guess that would be better, because then I could learn my lesson after repair). I will be sending it in tomorrow for Nintendo to repair it, free of charge. It might take 2-3 weeks, but I guess that would help me focus on the new upcoming semester.

Just don't tell them you used "unauthorized hardware" with it! :P

I might have mentioned a "Card Reader," but the seemingly-young representative might have either not caught up on what I meant, or might have just ignored it. By the way, do you think it could be an issue of NAND wear-out, or in this case Rapid NAND wear-out? Perhaps from the frequent writing and rewriting of the card, there might have been an issue?

I had the same issue but with me, it didn't save right and i got corrupt save issue. But for me I blew into the cartridge [like i used to back in the day  ] and put it back in my power save and it worked/read it. And I was able to load me previous save before the issue. Try that. also try re connecting the power save. If your pokemon r in poke bank then u r good if not sorry for losing all those mons.

Who knows. I doubt Nintendo will know, either. They're probably just going to send you a brand new game with an apology note about your lost save data.

I tried blowing into it, several times, but that didn't work. Your issue is one of the common ones I was speaking about ,and frankly easier to deal with, because at least the Powersaves/ 3DS is reading the card information. My Powersaves detects it, but because the game-card is now "unsupported" I don't have access to my save files to restore (if it was even possible). Its as if it's a blank card with no data. Fortunately, I read somewhere that one guy put copies of all of his Pokes in the bank , just-in-case. I'm glad I followed him.

Who knows. I doubt Nintendo will know, either. They're probably just going to send you a brand new game with an apology note about your lost save data.

I was worried about that :c. Though I have copies of the Pokes, I had a few freshly acquired ones that I didn't copy. They were only competitive legends, so they are relatively easy to obtain on the Pokemon Reddits, but now I have to go back and start up anything I was in the progress of :/.

Pretty sure this is the cart bricking issue that quite a few others have had with pokemon, from what I read, powersaves can go a bit loopy and write too much data to the card it's not as frequent as it was but seems the bug still exists

Don't blame the cartridge, blame Powersaves screwing up.

Did you open up the cartridge or just attempt to clean it with rubbing alcohol by rubbing the outside? I don't feel like having to super glue the plastic back...I had to glue enough things this week..

Did some searching, this is exactly what happened to me. It happened so fast, but when he described, I started to remember the events that occurred. I'm guessing it was due to the poor USB cable, as it was randomly disconnecting at times prior to the bricking, so I will be attempting to find and purchase a better one soon.

Definitely a Powersave issue. A couple months back, my copy of X was bricked by applying the Garchomp wonder card. I had thought maybe my internet had disconnected at first somewhere during the re-upload of the save data and somehow caused an issue, then I thought about how stupid that sounded and realized Powersaves had "messed up" and erased some part of the game it shouldn't have when it overwrote save data. I was going to send it in to a tech overseas at Datel, (I have his email still somewhere) but, I wasn't going to pay that money to ship from here (US) to their London HQ and tracking confirmation + shipping protection, I cut my losses and bought a copy of Y for like less than 25$. My reason switching to Y is because everyone I see with a Powersave brick issue seems to have a copy of X!

Anywho, the programmer for Powersaves, when I was in contact with him told me he could easily write my old X save to a new cart for X which we know we can't normally do. They know TONS of crap we don't basically, and they're never going to open up about it, it's how they make their money. And oh, for those with bricked carts, they won't answer you on Datel, they're not assuming responsibility publicly OF COURSE. You'll have to e-mail one of the programmers, not going to leak the e-mail but when I find it, I'll PM people who have been affected by the brick.

I decided not to open it and just try to clean it with the alcohol, it didn't work, but I wasn't expecting it to.

Yeah, when I was reading up last night, I read about the issue with the Garchomp card. I didn't have the game or Powersaves around that time, so I wasn't affected, but I believe this was fully the cable's fault now. I ordered a backup Y that will be coming tomorrow. I will be using it while my Pokemon X is out for Nintendo repair. I just hope that the repair man doesn't pick up on the "tampered" hints and/or still gives me a working cart in return. In my opinion, Datel is being quite shady and I never really trusted them from all the stories I've heard; however, I love hosting giveaways and I love the opportunities that Powersaves provides. Perhaps in the future there will be a non-computer/internet based cartridge save editor that is more reliable.

Did the USB cable disconnect at any time during the process? We're the servers giving other power-savers problems during that time? It's strange that the device can still pick it up and apply restores, yet it's not read by the 3ds. Is the cart dirty along the connectors? If any thing try to continually restore the data and hope it is read after some time.

I'm gonna go ahead and say, maybe you should've played the game like it was meant to... Just my own 2 cents.

Its unfortunate you lost a whole card to it though... Maybe you shouldn't, you know, clone pokemon.

You shouldn't have included your "two cents." There are plenty of penny comments like these, and those who do use 3rd party devices are well aware of these repeated comments. Your comment is irrelevant.

Well, if you're so tired of being called out for cheating, maybe you should stop cheating. Or just get used to it. Just like you're tired of that, many of use are tired of cheaters ruining games (either directly or indirectly), so it's fair game, I say. Cloners like you take away the uniqueness of events and rares. I honestly have no sympathy for people who lose their data and thus their Pokémon as a result of cloning or hacking.
