Hacking What determines the 'label' which the gateway displays on ROMs?

Having just loaded up an SD with a handful of roms all named in the format "#### - Title (region).3ds" I pushed Select within the gateway mode and the list displays "friendly names" for all ROMs on the SD aside from Monster Hunter 3, which shows the actual filename (sans extension).

Not really a huge issue just curious if the gateway is inspecting part of the dumps to locate a title name and somehow failing on that one rom.

So one ROM might be potentially missing a header?
Maybe.
Otherwise it could be a problem with the current version of your Gateway Firmware.
Possible that the names off all current games are saved in the firmware(?)
If it's so, Gateway reads the GameID out of the header of the Rom and gives out the name of the game.

Hard to describe because english is not my native language^^

Looks like the 'Gateway ROM Patcher v0.6' doesn't display this information. I wonder if another tool would be able to show this?

I also only have this on the (EUR) version of the MH Tri ROM.
I have injected my MK7 or Kid Icarus header into the ROM, and changed the extension to .3DZ.

But it might just be a bad ROM dump?

Mines the USA version so I don't think it's the specific dump, plus I've run it over with clrmamepro and checked the CRC/MD5 manually. Runs fine as well :P

Pretty sure if the internal game name uses special characters or something. Gateway just reverts to using the file name

Oh, nice catch!
I just checked, and it seems the "TM" trademark logo cause the name to not appear.
Games which have (C) or (R) copyright symbols still appear, but with the symbol is omitted in the menu.
Some games with Japanese titles also do not display the name.

Most likely because the font used is unable to support the special characters.
