Hardware should i buy a japanese 3ds xl?

i really like the eevee designed 3ds xl but is it worth it? its region-locked after all and i wont even be playing any Japanese games. is it hard to make it region free and will i be able to have internet access? what are the pros and cons? thanks in advance!
