You can only hack PSP Mode by downloading one (which entails buying) of the Ninja releases from PSN once it's announced at wololo.net (you can get announcements early if you sign up on their forums) and installing an eCFW or VHBL, however I personally don't recommend it as you have to keep your PSVita out-of-date if you want the exploit to work, and that nullifies any benefits from PSN and PSPlus, which are a far better value as far as PSVita content is concerned. PSVita Mode is not hacked as of today.

is it like SudokuHax on the DSi, sort of a thing? meaning sony will patch any exploits almost immediately.

i really just want to play some old PSP games with a second analog. so does the store have good selection of PSP classics?, and are they expensive?, and does a PS plus subscription give out old PSP games.

More or less, yes. You download an exploitable PSN game, then the exploit that goes with it, you install the exploit, execute it and bam! You're ready to install eCFW/VHBL. This will only give you access to PSP content though, and not all exploits have kernel access required to launch ISO's, so you have to make sure what level of access is available when reading about Ninja releases and exploits.

EDIT: Your current options are updating to the latest firmware and waiting for the next exploit and Ninja release or downloading one of the previous exploitable games using a PS3 and copying that to your PSVita (although it may require some work-arounds if your PSVita is running outdated firmware - there's instructions online, I'm sure).

EDIT2: The PSN Store has loads of PSP games and they're extremely cheap, all things considered. They appear on PSPlus occasionally, but Sony mostly gives away PSVita content. If you just want PSP games with a second analog stick, eCFW might be just the thing for you.

is it worth it to keep it at 3.00? im used to PSP and DSi/3DS exploits requiring low firmware. but i guess thats not a factor anymore?

The newer the firmware the better the stability and features, but eventually exploits will dry up, so it's a gamble. I would wait for the next Ninja release and update last minute if I were you.
