Hi,
I've searched the forum but couldn't find anything about it

I've backed up my Mario Kart 7 (1.0) original cart savegame to SD Card using "Backup 3DS Savegame" in Gateway Menu. It gave me a file named "AMKP.SAV" on my SD Card.

Now, I'd like to use this savegame with Mario Kart 7 ROM (1.1, to be able to play online) on my Gateway... perhaps using "Restore 3DS Savegame"? Or another tool?

At least, if that's possible?

Thanks for your answers! ;)

Backup save game is supposed to be used for your personal ROM dumps, not internet ROMs.
Also, ROMs from the internet cannot go online.

The header from your own person ROM dump acts like a "CD-Key" for PC games in order to go online.
You cannot swap save games from your retail carts with random internet ROMs, because the retail save will only work with the correct header.
If you want the save the work, or go online, you can try header injection.

If you've never played the retail cart in any 3DS over firmware 4.5, then maybe you can try:
1) Backup the retail cart from the Gateway menu (2GB of free space on your large SD card is needed for Mario Kart)
2) Extract the header from the retail card using Gateway ROM patcher: http://filetrip.net/dl?dupiqmdMgr
3) Inject the header from the retail card into the v1.1 ROM
4) Rename the v1.1 ROM from .3DS to .3DZ

If you have played the retail cart on a 3DS newer than 4.5 firmware, the save probably won't work.

I've already backed up and inserted my retail cart header into the 1.1 scene ROM and online play works very fine.

What's the next step please? Renaming savegame? Moving savegame in a different directory?

hmmmm maybe the saves aren't cross compatible then, i will give it a test on my version if you want just to make sure, but it sounds like you have done everything correctly

Newer firmware doesn't matter. I used my MK7 save with my own dump on my Gateway after playing the cart on 6.1, and it worked fine.

yeah the 6.x save encryption being an issue only applies to games that actually use 6.x save encryption....older games like mario kart dont

ok seems the saves between the 1.1 cart and 1.0 don't work, even with matched headers etc

You could always wait until Gateway fixes emunand.
Then you can use your v1.0 ROM and download the patch from the Nintendo Store.
