apparently the ps2 version is better, but when we are emulating a game...well.what do you guys think?
i had no idea that a ps2 version existed,so i already am playing the gc one (less than 2 hours in,no big deal.).

should i try the ps2 version instead or its not working as well as the GC one?

You can find all of the changes here, but essentially:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/gamecube/561316-tales-of-symphonia/faqs/32765

- New moves
- New unison attacks
- New enemies
- Bug fixes
- More interaction in skits (you may have seen portraits growing and shrinking, shaking, etc.; these effects are not in the GC version)
- Graphical and sound fixes
- Drop adjustments (specifically when it comes to gold and two monsters, which makes one side quest in the game far more difficult)

I've beaten the GC version a number of times. I've never played the PS2 version. As long as you can understand the PS2 version (I'm not sure if there was any language offered other than Japanese; no point in playing if you can't understand it, of course), I'd say play that. Emulating or not, it appears to be the superior version of the game, though, it was rather contained. These days, that release would have had an extra letter attached to it, to separate it from the original.

Also, apparently, the PS2 version is kind of poop compared to the GC version due to technical issues.

Yeah, go GC version.

There's a menu patch for the PS2 version, but it's still hard to keep playing if you have the option of playing a perfectly fine english version on Gamecube.
The changes aren't really worth it. My PS2 version collects dust. :P

Surprised it took long enough until somebody mentioned the PS3 version. It's by far the best one, it even has Dual Audio.

Well, considering that before yesterday the last post was from half a year before the PS3 version was even announced, I don't think there'd be too many mentions of it.

if you are a collector, you collect all versions.
You are not a collector, you are a nostalgic and purist (not in pejorative way).

I also prefer some old games I played and enjoyed long time ago (I prefer old looking FF6 than the new one on android for example).
But I'm not against remake if it's well done (and if I never played the old one first).

Still doesn't make any sense.

I guess you're not very bright.

Well i collect only what i enjoy, if that makes me a purist so be it.

Hahaha that's true. I didn't notice it.

Everyone on their right mind would prefer the original, the redone Android sprites are awful. Even the Japanese fans at 2ch were laughing at how terrible it looked when it came out

Could be. Some people say that. But I'm pretty sure last time I checked being a game collector doesn't mean to only play originals. In fact, I'm pretty sure it makes all the sense in the world for a game collector to play all versions of a game, especially Collector Editons of HD remakes.

The original version is rarely the best version available. Re-releases often have loads of new content, not to mention all the patches, and they're worth it unless they're sold as a "brand new game" at full price, in which case I normally wait until they're ultra-cheap.

If I were to pick between the PS2 version and the GC version, I'd pick the GC one purely because the Gamecube had more juice which lead to better visuals.
