Hacking Is there a way to get MK8 free game download on 4.x firmware without updating to 5.x - promo expirin

I've never connected my Wii U to the Internet or updated its firmware.

So I haven't signed up to the club point system, etc.

Everyone know of the free digital games you get with MK8, and it is expiring shortly.

Is there any way I can connect my Wii U to the net, sign up for the deal, download one of the free games, all while remaining on 4.x?

You don't even need to turn your Wii U on - as far as I know, the game code is sent to you via e-mail. Of course you won't be able to access the eShop, but you'll have the code for later reference.

nope if you want the game you have to use the eshop that means updating. exploits still work on 5x so stop being paranoid and just update

when i did it it said you have till 31st (corrected) july to register the code. so the whole promotions ends than and no codes will work.

Yeah - register the #PIN code was what I understood, that's my point.

I think we can all learn something from the 3DS Scene, just because the exploit exists in more recent versions doesn't equate to that being released to end users. People that say it will work are end users who updated themselves and feel if they broadcast it that somehow it will be a reality, a way to feel better about themselves updating. Who knows what will happen.

No, for now, when the Wii U exploit works with 5.0.0 and 5.1.0, developers probably will make a "Updater without loosing homebrew" and you will be able to download the game from eShop, or they could make a "eShop updater" like it happends in the Wii, they will need to update the Wii U IOSU and the app it self to make the app believe that you are in the latest version when you are in the 4.1.0 .

Also note that ssspwn is a *user mode* exploit, not *kernel mode*, and that the entry point is not as convenient as mset (DS profile), so anyone that updates past v4.5.0 (we're now at v8.1.0) is crazy as it's just as easy to use emuNAND. My WiiU is still on firmware 3.1.0 as I have no need-to-update and am hoping for an emuNAND for WiiU.

Rule 3 is: They will always let you upgrade, but never let you downgrade.

Actually this is how it work:

Promotion available from 5/30/2014 12:00am ET to 7/31/2014 11:59pm PT. Limit 1 per customer.
Download code will expire on 10/1/14 12:00am PT.

So as long as you get the code using Club Nintendo by 7/31 (practically 3 days), and update your Wii U and download the game before October, you're fine. Starting October, the code goes *poosh*, so at least sell it or something before then.

The PTB have said that the internet browser was NOT updated.
I do NOT believe they have commented on whether the ROP chain "links" have been altered.

So, it seems if the exploit now works in 5.0.0U, it should work in 5.1.0U.

Only for now, in the future when they relase the 5.0.0 exploit, I think it should work with 5.1.0 since the Browser it's the same.
