Hacking Can Wii Mode exploits be blocked by Wii U firmware updates?

I don't own a Wii or a Wii U yet and I'm trying to decide what console I'm going to purchase.

I want to be able to run Wii ISOs (a new copy of Prime Trilogy in the UK goes for 70 pounds, fuck that) whilst also not having to worry about updating my Wii U so I can play actual copies of new games as they come out with online features and all that.

TL;DR is it reasonable to assume Wii U system updates won't stop me from running Wii ISOs, or should I just buy a Wii?

AFAIK they COULD block vwii exploits by updates, but seeing as they didnt seem to care so far, it think it is unlikely, they would
if I'm wrong, then someone please correct me

Thanks. I went though the FAQs and it looks like I'll need to purchase a copy of Brawl to use the smash stack exploit. It still works in the latest firmware update, right? Sorry to use this thread for clarification.

There are other games you can use to softmode the vWii other than Smash Bros.
The Lego games are fairly cheaper in comparison.

As for the latest firmware, I'm pretty sure it works with version 5.
Though you might want to think about staying at a lower version, to be able to use the Wii U browser exploit, which at this point still doesn't work on version 5.

I'm okay with not being able to run Wii U pirated copies. There's only a couple games per year I'm *really* interested anyway, so I'll just buy them.

But the unreasonable prices on some of the older Wii games are prohibitive, particularly when they demand you own all the god damn controller paraphernalia.
