The console will just lock up if you remove the SD Card while it's running in EmuNAND as it lost it's system storage medium. Else, removing the launcher.dat, while in operation or out of operation, doesn't really do anything, except when in EmuNAND, as it'll lockup the 3DS as stated previously. As long as it's not the 2.0b launcher, there won't be any real chance of a brick either. Basically, there's no such risk, so you're welcome to ignore everything LAMEnes says. Plus, GateWay doesn't even work on the 2DS, so can't really brick it if it can't be run on it. Just a bit of logic there...

There definitely is code that bricks you console when it gets triggers. It is triggerd when a crc mismatch and the crc is made across a non checked mem region.

Back up your 3DS's SD card in case any files get corrupted. The next parts require 1GB (at least) of space on the card and you will need 128K+ for each game's save file.

Next, (when you enter the Gateway menu) back up your NAND and put it on your computer (will be on the 3DS's SD card). Then back up your NAND again and put it on your computer. To be extra safe you can back it up once more if you want. Then create an EmuNAND partition.

(You should prepare the microSD card with the below steps at the same time since the setup of both take so long.)
Take your microSD and do a complete erase with Panasonic's SD Formatter. Copy your games over to it. Trimming games can help save a lot of space but sometimes can cause problems (usually only super-trimmed).

Once all of the above is done, put the microSD into the red card and pop it in the 3DS. Update the firmware when it asks you (in the Gateway menu -- I believe it triggers when you select it to boot to GW mode). Then have fun with your games!

If you experience freezing of the 3DS when you choose a game with the menu (the one that shows when Select is pressed) then do a normal trim on it instead of super-trim.

DO NOT, under ANY circumstances attempt to insert the card in your nose or other bodily orifice. It has been designed to fit into the 3DS only.

You are welcome.
^^ Best advice right there. Listen to this man, he knows his shit.

Well, if it DOESN'T hang, a couple of seconds. If it seems to hang however, try pressing the HOME button and re-selecting the app. Seemed to work over here!

You can also close the screen for a second and reopen it and it should continue. Has worked for me the few times it has frozen.

If you follow the video on gateways site keep in mind its outdated for 2.1 and 2.2. In 2.1 and 2.2 press select to load up your rom list and dont use win32diskimager. Just drap and drop 1 file at a time
