Hacking Wii U Homebrew Situation and FAQ

Sorry, but can anyone help me do this on dd-wrt? I already tried blocking addresses and IPs before and it didn't work.

Remember he probably got a PAL Wii U, it it's possible the PALs Wii U have a different update server (mine update blocking that IP too), no know adress block for NTSC yet.

depends on your router, some seem not to be able to bock the url "nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net", then you will have to block all possible IPs for that URL, so yeah, you block a range of IPs

for the IPs/URLs
so far I have only been blocking "nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net" and it has been working perfectly, but I updated to 5.0 recently for the mario kart 8 offer, so just to be 100% sure for the future, in case, that they changed something, I also added the other possible URLs, better be safe then sorry

I can't block nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net on my router (linksys WRT310N) the url is too long and it won't let me write it all in the box ...

It's awesome that a priority for devs is to port it to the latest system version. It sucks when people get you all excited about exploits and it turns out it only works on way lower firmware (looking at you Gateway).

So from reading this, that mostly mean, I should update to 5.0 now, enjoy the Mario Kart 8 Offer but after 5.0 I should block any updates.

Or should I better stay on 4.0X? Whats the prefference.

There's no difference.
Just update and use mk8 offer.

Because they said, it have to change Code etc. which can take long time. So I trough 4.0.X Exploit will come much faster.

There's nothing useful for the Wii U exploit right now.
Come back here in a year or two.

thats actually good news when i hacked my vwii in January people would say that no one cared about the wiiu side and there was nothing to do there and i was like fuck you say? of course someone some where is working on it and there will be a use for it so knowing that there is actually something going on even if its not much is great news.

A: Mario Kart 8 comes with 4.1.0 on the disc, so go buy it (because it's not like it's a bad game), keep your system offline, and then update with the disc.

So blocking the IPs doesn't stop the update notification from popping up? Interesting. Someone needs to find the IP that sends the data for the version so we can block the notification itself. Wireshark GO!

Well, after trying so many times, I've finally blocked ALL Wii U System Update, I've block this IP's:
nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net
nus.wup.shop.nintendo.net
nus.cdn.shop.wii.com
nus.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
And the Wii U can't update saying "the server it's full", I tried online and it works , but the bad thing it's you can't access the eShop, all of this in my NTSC-U Wii U.

EDIT: It could be a stupid question, but somebody that have blocked the Wii U Update, it could update while it is in Stand By mode?

I hope I`m not commenting in the wrong thread,but I just got a Wii U and I want to install Homebrew channel and stay on System 4.1 firmware via Mario Kart 8.I also want to be able to connect to Netflix and Youtube via app,but it`s asking for a system up.The question I want to know is do I have to update to use those apps or can I use those apps without system update to 5.0.Any help.Thanks.

The amount of times this question has been asked is insane.
If you are a dev, stay on 4.1. If you are a user, go to 5.0. You can't individually update apps like on the wii because there is no homebrew yet. If it asks for an update, you cant get around it.
