According to: http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1333/p/431/c/266
Yes, Wii Shop purchases and Wii Points will be combined.

Which is great, however...

  • Download content and save data for software titles that exist on both systems will be replaced by the save data and add-on content from the last system to perform the transfer.
  • Mii characters in the Wii Menu of the target Wii U console and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection ID of the target Wii U console will be replaced with the Mii characters and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection ID of the last source system to perform the transfer.
I already transferred my first Wii over, it has the majority of my stuff but it seems like a giant waste to not be able to get the 2-3 games off of the other Wii and bring it over. I really don't want to lose the save data from the first Wii though.
Now what I've done so far was make a NAND backup off my first Wii, transfer the data to the WiiU and did a restore on my Wii. What can I do?

A system transfer permanently moves all supported data. You can't choose to keep certain games on the Wii.

Before transferring, move saves you don't want on Wii U onto an SD card where the Wii U won't see them.

So delete the saves/Miis altogether and they won't overwrite the ones already on the WiiU?

I was under the impression the old saves would all go away.

What about the Wii Shop Channel? Will I be able to redownload both Wiis's stuff?

What the hell is Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection ID?

I don't know, it'd just be rather rude to overwrite saves that aren't present at the moment of transfer.

After transfer you can only redownload stuff using the destination Wii U. You'll have to repurchase games you miss having on Wii.

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection can be ignored now. Wii multiplayer servers were announced to shut down this month.

Ok, so will all the miis I brought from my Wii to my WiiU be written over or just lumped together?

Let's say I bought Mario on console A and Sonic on Console B if I transfer Console B in now can I go into the shop and still redownload Mario?

Maybe I'll just back up my saves on my Wii (Console A) and transfer them over to WiiU manually after the fact. Just in case.
